RE: HEY RUTGERS ................................

Rutgers biggest problem is their inability to run effectively. It's made their offense one-dimensional, and when coupled with QBs who telegraph their passes, it makes scoring difficult to say the least. Teel has been ineffective as a passer, and those crossing routes Rutgers always runs don't work if you have no run threat to speak of. The safties and linebackers sit back waiting for the receivers to cross in front of them, and either meet the receiver about the same time as the ball does, or they beat the receiver to the ball. UNC and Fresno both picked up on this, and the Rutgers coaching staff hasn't made any significant changes to rectify this problem. If this doesn't change, RU is in for a very long season. I think it's already hit the fan. I just hope the rest of the conference doesn't get hit by the splatter...
Another problem that is part and parcel of the problem noted above is turnovers. Turnovers gave UNC their huge point differential, just like turnovers gave Fresno the momentum shift they needed to trounce the Bloody (blood is scarlet, isn't it?) Knights. It's hard to keep any games close when you give your opposition nearly half your possessions. If Rutgers can't hold onto the ball any better, they won't beat anybody...
Rutgers defense looked good, until they got behind. Once UNC had the lead, Rutgers defense disappeared for the most part. Poor tackling, missed assignments, and defensive alignments that allow too many gaps in a soft zone have given both Fresno and UNC the momentum to carry them to victory once they got a lead...
To sum it all up, Rutgers sucks right now. They need backbone, and an offense that can put some points on the board. Until they get both, they will be hard pressed to beat Syracuse...
Good summary. On top of that, Teel is a total no threat as a runner so all the CBs and LBs just sit back there and wait for the WRs to make a move and then drill them. Part of the reason they can't run is their OL blocking is weak. I have said many times before the season how can they be picked higher in the BE when they lost Ray Rice and half the OL? I guess that loss is huge now. Until they get a running game, Teel gonna throw a lot of INTs.

Did you even watch the game yesterday? The OL was blocking pretty damn well. It was our Defense special teams and Teel that stunk up the joint. Sure Robinson wasn't doing a lot of running but thats because Robinson sucks not the OL (Young was injured). When they put Jourdan Brooks in there he always seemed to get positive yards.

The only team that maybe worst than UNC is Maryland. Do you still believe that right now the BE is better than the MWC? For that matter do you think right now the BE is better than the ACC?
Now I don't expect you to say yes to either but man the BE is looking awful right now.
Yeah… peeeeeyeeeeewww!
At least we’re still better than C-U – wait, hold that thought.
Yeah you better hold onto that thought Jose. Lol. Seriously, I made a mistake in saying the North Carolina was possibly the worst team in the ACC. I meant NC St. along with Maryland are horrid.
Still, if USF loses tonight the BE may possibly end up with no teams in the Top 25 next Monday. Yeah I know WVU is barley in at 25 but they could fall out of the polls altogether.
I'm not going to pile on but I thought it was funny that no one here posted the Top 25 polls for this week. Why? For now the BE still has two ranked teams. One more than CUSA and the WAC and tied with the MWC for the time being. I say cheer up.

Thanks HD. I’m pretty much taking it in stride. Disgusted, yes, but, with me, it ends when the game does (unless Cincy’s involved ).
I’m looking forward to tonight’s matchup. It’ll be a great game no matter who wins.

RE: HEY RUTGERS ................................
I can't believe that display I witnessed. Ugh! I think Rutgers does have plenty of talent on the roster. The problem is that this talent is mostly redshirts, freshmen, and sophomores. It will be late next season or possibly in 2010 before that group can really make an impact.
The Scarlet Knights do have talented upperclassmen but not enough to carry the team the way Ray Rice, Brian Leonard, and the other guys did the last three seasons. I actually think several Big East teams, Louisville most prominently, also have that problem right now.
West Virginia lost almost its entire defense and a couple of excellent offensive pieces like Steve Slaton and Owen Schmitt that can't simply be replaced by less-talented, or less-experienced, underclassmen. It is going to take a while for the talent to cycle back up again.

RE: HEY RUTGERS ................................
I think WVU's problems are more related to people learning how to play together. Most of the bad play for the Mountaineers has been stupid little mistakes at the wrong times. Once WVU stops shooting themselves in the foot, they'll be fine.
Rutgers is another story...

We have a 5th year senior QB A senior WR and a Junior WR. A senior safety A senior CB and a Junior CB. Yet the passing game and the secondary is the most that is struggling.

RE: HEY RUTGERS ................................
That 5th year QB never learned how to look off an opponent too. What kind of education did he get on the field?
Did the secondary get the memo on how to cover man to man, or is giving a 20 yd. cushion in zone coverage the standard in New Jersey?

You are wrong, sir. UNC was picked to be a sleeper this year. They sucked last week against McNeese, but it looks like the young guys are coming together.
Get back to me about that sleeper business after VA TECH this weekend.
