A prelude to the hoops season
With the official start of hoop practice a little more than a month away, I thought I'd get some conversation rolling about strengths of teams around the league. I'll start a list of categories. Please feel free to create new categories with your respective picks.

Best frontcourt: Jacksonville--Colbert and Allen

Best tandem: ETSU--Pigram/Tiggs

Best rebounding team--Mercer

Most fundamental team--Belmont

Scappiest team--USC-Upstate

Bad News Bears--UNF

Sleeper team--Stetson

Best defensive team--Lipscomb

RE: A prelude to the hoops season
I would fear UNF if they actually had Leak, Boyle and Whurlitzer - maybe they play baseball for the Ospreys. Definitely agree about Upstate being scrappy, I remember them and the Hatters thisclose to brawling last season.

Rebounding - statistically the best on the boards last year was Lipscomb. Mercer led the league in total rebounds but they also gave up the most and were out-rebounded. Probably a function of all the shots they took and let others take in the system Slonaker played. I wonder if Hoffman will continue to play that style or change it up.

Lipscomb has a nice young core with Hodzic, Brown, Lusk and Oden. I'm also interested to see FGCU play with their totally new cast of characters.

I agree with Bucfaithful for the most part.

And HatterFan, I don't think Mercer dominating the boards this year has much to do with last season. It's the addition of Emerson. Combine that with Henry who is a proven monster.

Best Shooting Team - BELMONT

Most Well-Coached - BELMONT

I'd like to see what folks think about most athletic (definitely not Belmont).

Most Athletic - Jacksonville

Best Player - Campbell - JROD

Worst Fouling Team - Steton - I hate when they come to Campbell to play. There is no flow to the game and they foul all the time. Refs don't catch half of them.

Best All Around - Belmont - I enjoy watching them play even when they are beating us.
