New Bright House Channel shows sports 24 hours a day (including BIG EAST games)
Bright House Networks is the largest cable company in the Orlando and Tampa Bay areas. In Orlando, we have News 13. It runs local news 24 hours a day, with weather on the ones. In Tampa, it is Bay 9, and it is the same concept. The only difference is the time of the weather I believe. This company also owns the naming rights to UCF's stadium. They just announced a 24 hour sports network in Orlando, which is similar to the one in Tampa. You will see below that they will show UCF, USF, and Big East games. I can see UCF games being shown in Tampa, and USF games in Orlando.

I am a fan of UCF, but I am also a fan of the Big East. I lived near Syracuse and developed a great appreciation for Big East basketball. I am pretty excited to have the Big East show its games in Central Florida, and NOT the SEC, or ACC. This is pretty significant I believe. For Central Florida to embrace the Big East instead of the SEC says something to me.

Anyway, this seems like a great thing for the region, for UCF, USF, and the Big East.

Quote:Great news for sports fans. We're excited to tell you about a new, exclusive Bright House Networks channel that will have sports 24 hours a day.

It's called the Bright House Sports Network and it debuts on Digital Channel 47 next Wednesday.

It will have sports coverage from all over Central Florida and the I-4 corridor.

The Bright House Sports Network will offer games from the University of Central Florida, other local colleges and the Big East Conference as well as high school sports teams. Plus, there is an exclusive 30 minute sports report at 11 p.m. every night.

For those of you who like fishing, auto racing, extreme sports, boxing, and soccer, the Bright House Sports Network will cover all those sports too.

Again, this is an exclusive channel for Bright House Networks, which is the parent company of News 13.

News 13 (Bright House's 24 hours news network in Central Florida)

Quote:Bright House Sports Network - A new, 24-hour regional sports channel that will broadcast University of Central Florida, University of South Florida and Sunbelt Conference games. It will also broadcast more than 75 live high school sports events a year and have its own studio shows, and feature coverage of fishing, auto racing, extreme sports, boxing and soccer. The channel will debut on Sept. 17 as channel 47.

They added the Big Ten network, and CNNHD to Brighthouse also.

Is this the same Catch 47 channel that is already on the Tampa area systems?

My favorite is when they tell you they will be there between 1-5, then show up at 7.

Yes, they are one and the same. For those of us who try to follow USF from out of town, it's not such a great deal. No prayer of ever getting this on the satellite. That prompts a question that I'll post under a separate thread.

I like how the Big East is mentioned so prominently in their press release. I have said before that there is a lot of potential for the league to establish a very good fanbase across the middle section of Florida from Tampa through Orlando and on to Daytona under the right circumstances. I think this is a good step in that direction but there are some outside factors that will also determine just how many inroads can really be made in that regard.
