NO!!!!

As someone from there, chicken wings aren't supposed to be smoked. They should be deep fried. Yes, I've seen people smoke, bread then deep fry, grill, bake and cook them just about any other way. And some of them are not bad. But a chicken wing from Buffalo is deep fried and naked (no breading).

And for chrissakes, they come in four flavors: Hot, Medium, Mild and BBQ.

And goddammit, no ******* ranch dressing!!! Serve bleu chees or don't serve anything!

(end rant)

And pass the wetnaps. Please.

I guess you've never tried chicken cooked overnight in a smoker over chickory, smothered in your sauce of choice. I make my own sauces, and have several recipes for various foods and styles of cooking.

The spice of life, ya know... 03-thumbsup

Bit, I'm sure they are very good. Folks from the wing capital can get a little particular about that stuff. I've warmed up to some of the other varieties like lemon/lime pepper. Had grilled wings a while back and thought they were excellent.

But the traditionalist in me says deep fried, no batter, hot variety w/bleu cheese & celery is authentic.

So, where will Turner Gill coach next year?

Syracuse? Pittsburgh? Penn State? Virginia? Notre Dame?

Happy hardening of the arteries... 04-cheers

Although, I must admit, I too like it that way occasionally. Nostalgia, you know... 07-coffee3

I'd like to see Syracuse. Have a feeling that Turner will be looking towards open jobs in the midwest and Texas.

Is Mike Gundy on the hot seat? Oklahoma St. might be the one job in the Big 12 that has a chance at opening up.

Turner Gill is a great coach! If he can get Buffalo to a bowl game then he deserves the SU job.

He is a great coach. He was in the running for the Nebraska job. Also Al Golden at Temple is not so bad either. Temple looks to be much improved this year. Next week's UCONN vs. Temple won't be no cake walk.

We'll be able to scout them tonight. Temple/Army in on ESPN Classic.

04-jawdrop I like Hooters! 03-shhhh

04-rock Hooters Buafflo Wings! 04-cheers

They are bread as they should be! 04-rock

Ingredients
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup louisiana hot sauce
1 dash pepper, Ground
1 dash garlic powder
1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
10 chicken wings
bleu cheese salad dressing
celery
vegetable oil, for frying

Directions
1) Combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl.

2) If the wings are frozen, be sure to defrost and dry them.

3) Put the wings into a large bowl and sprinkle the flour mixture over them, coating each wing evenly.

4) Put the wings in the refrigerator for 60 to 90 minutes. (This will help the breading to stick to the wings when fried.)

5) Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees.

6) You want just enough oil to cover the wings entirely -- an inch or so deep at least. Combine the butter, hot sauce, ground pepper, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well blended.

7) Put all the wings into the hot oil and fry them for 10 to 15 minutes or until some parts of the wings begin to turn dark brown.

8) Remove the wings from the oil to a paper towel to drain.

9) But don't let them sit too long, because you want to serve the wings hot. Quickly put the wings into a large bowl.

10) Add the hot sauce and stir, coating all the wings evenly.

11) You could also use a large plastic container with a lid for this.

12) Put all the wings inside the container, add the sauce, put on the lid, then shake. Serve with Bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks on the side. And of course with your ice cold beer of choice! 04-cheers

Wanny isn't on the hot seat. Big boy at Notre Shame just might be. Joe Alzeimers Paterno prob will coach one more year. I see him and Golden competing for the Syracuse job. Schiano is going to coach at State Penn University.

To each his own. When Hooters tried offering the breaded wings in Buffalo at their sole location, there was such an outcry from the locals that breaded wings weren't Buffalo style wings that they either

a) offered them naked (no breading)
or
b) stopped offering the breaded wings there altogether.
