Pittsburgh is still a hot bed for H.S. talent and on any given nite the top game gets a larger crowd than the Pirates do. Funny thing is the Sat games recieve large attendance as well.

Further to this, I think that there has to be a separation between the Northeast and the Midwest here. Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois still produce plenty of high-level football players out of high school. It's really the Northeastern states that have issues in terms of growing talent. At the same time, would you call high school football "religion" in California? I wouldn't, but that state produces as much or more talent than any other state on a per capita basis (i.e. it's not just because it has the highest population). I know that people love the spread the myth of "SEC Speed", but there are a lot of factors in play other than the fact that the weather might be cold - otherwise, Baylor, Duke, UNC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, and a whole slew of other teams in the Sunbelt would be long-term football powerhouses. Certainly, I can easily see why a recruit would be lured by the prospect of going to a school such as USC or Florida, but the reasons why a recruit would pick USC over Florida or vice versa go way beyond the warm weather factor.

It's about passion, and pagentry, and tradition. There is no denying that the south excells and lives these and the north simply dabbles in them. Nothing against the north. It is what it is.

Well...some folks that live above the Mason Dixon line DO GET IT but yes they might be in the minority.
You're basically talking about folks who live within about a 100-150 mile radius of Pittsburgh. For the rest of the northeast, football is just another sport.

Probably true. However, the sooner those programs gain the advantages of BCS membership, the sooner they can be championship-caliber members of the Big East, pulling their own weight.

That is not the right spirit. It would be better if you state the benefit to the Big East if they added you than what you can gain from their relationship. You don’t really care about having a relation with member of the Big East only that you get access to BCS.

You miss the point entirely. Please read again and think about what I am saying. Not a selfish statement.
