Hey Louisiana Tech Detractors...
Eager Eagle, remember that stadium you love to rag on in Ruston. Here it is today, power washed, new field turf, and new paint (although not finished yet).

How are you going to spin the overflow Louisiana Tech-Mississippi State crowd in 3 weeks? Even if you don't go to the game, at least watch it on ESPN2 so you will know what you are talking about! 04-cheers

You know I was going to say the field looks good besides the lack of seats - but I think you worded it perfectly

10 million bucks could make that a nice stadium. How many does it seat now?

30k. the other side looks exactly like that side. Actually some of the best sight lines I have seen in any stadium. why does Tech need any more seats than that. sky boxes yes. more seats no. More schools could stand to reduce the size of their stadium. Joe Aillet is very loud and right on the field.
But you are right put it on the smack board for EE. not here

The sad/scary/funny part of the "expansion" is how the stadium must have looked before the updates.

RE: Hey Louisiana Tech Detractors...
1. Expand by at least 5000 seats and sell 95% capacity consistently
2. Find a TV market - relocate the entire university to Shreveport
3. In lieu of "2," play at least one WAC or non-BCS non-conference game in Shreveport annually and sell out the Independence Bowl, thus showing that you have the support of that city's market.

Then we can talk, perhaps.

RE: Hey Louisiana Tech Detractors...
Ruston is one of the prettiest pined areas you could ever want to send your kid to school. Why would you want to move it to Shreveport; so it can look like Memphis or UAB. Those campuses are eyesores. We are in the Shreveport and Monroe TV market. The problem is we compete with three div1 schools within a 40 mile radius. I don't see Tech ever going beyond 25k fan base. USM averages 28k on a good year in a much bigger yet still small market. Tech is never going to be UCF. Its not a commuter college with massive student population. Its a real university in a college town. Joe Aillet stadium is a fun small football stadium that is very loud. The focus needs to be on making it look better and more suites and a new field house and Jumbotron. Not more capacity. All these CUSA schools should just fill up what they have instead of worrying about making them larger. Besides when we know there are going to be more than 40k in the stadium, we have the option of Shreveport. Its the best of both worlds

University Designated as Level II Arboretum
For release: July 8, 2008
For press information, contact Curt Guenther

The University of Memphis campus has been designated a Level 2 Arboretum by the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and the Tennessee State Division of Forestry. To achieve that designation requires that at least 60 varieties of trees must be labeled and available for a self-guided tour. At the U of M, 67 varieties of trees meet those criteria.

A special campus map, which denotes the location of these trees, is available at the University’s Visitor Information Center and at the Facilities Operations Desk at the U of M’s Physical Plant office; the map is also available online at: http://bf.memphis.edu/pp/arboretum.pdf

I was at the 1998 game between UCF and Louisiana Tech in Ruston (a 64-30 Shootout Win for the Knights in a showdown between Daunte Culpepper and Tim Rattay). It was 10+ years ago now (damn, time flies), but I enjoyed Ruston and the LTU campus.

Good luck to LTU against MSU.

Culpepper was simply unstoppable in that game. It was the weekend after Rattay set the single-game opponents passing record at Nebraska and Troy Edwards set the NCAA single-game receiving yardage record vs the Huskers. At the time we had no idea how good Daunte was!

Thanks for the comments and likewise to UCF, MylesKnight! I hope you guys beat BC, Miami, and USF. That is a salty non-conference schedule ya'll are playing.

everybody who played against Dante. Much the same way everyone was blown out by Tulane during their undefeated season. Ashamed that the BCS rule wasn't in place then. Tulane deserved a BCS game
