Cool Battle for the Palladium 2008
Well it's almost here. The Sun Belt screwed us by placing this heated rivalry game at the beginning of the season rather than its rightful place as the final game. However, I think the matchup is going to be as aggressive and emotional as ever.

Last season we walked all over the Blue Faiders on national television. This year, they look to take advantage of a new starting QB and a new OC on the sidelines. Jamie Hampton takes over for 2-time All-Sun Belt Quarterback Omar Haugabook. Hampton was originally committed to play for Purdue, but changed his mind when Troy offered. He felt playing closer to home in an offense that would allow him to shine was just too much to pass up. Can he get it done? I don't know. The true sophmore performed well against competition last season, but saw very limited action.

Troy and Middle have developed a deep hatred between each other. Not neccesarily between individual fans, we don't see each other often enough for that, but between the general fan populace (and especially the teams). I was excited that ESPN picked our rivalry as a top-5 non-BCS rivalry in America. I couldn't agree more. I would rather beat Middle than any other conference opponent. I love beating the MUTS, it is just so satisfying. The "Miracle in Murphreesburo" was amazing. Following it up with a dominating performance on espn was bliss. 05-mafia

Now we have to go "Into the Blue" to face an angry Middle team looking to take two years of shame out on a young Trojan team.

So, what do you Middle fans think?

If the muts win over six games this year, I'll be surprised.

I agree. We're a very young team. And we're still working to get up to full scholarship #s.

That said, the first game of the year is the best time for MT to play Troy. The gap between the teams will be less, and with some good bounces, we can come out on top. It's one of the worst times to play the game if you're a Troy fan.

A lot of people are worried about Jamie and the rest of the offense. I'm not worried at all. They are going to get the job done.
