I'm reminded so often of our family dog we lost several years ago. We talk about Odie all the time. Like you we had him for 17 years. These 17 years were also the time my children were young and Odie was a major part of our family. My wife tells our dog Gabby all about Odie and how they would have love playing with each other. I guess it helps her deal with Odie not being around.

The song Mr. Bojangles by the Nitty Gitty Dirt Band - the verse "after 20 years he still grieves" sums up how I expect the memory of Odie will be. I wish you the best.

Somebody posted the coolest prayer not so long ago about the bridge a dog crosses to wait for the person he / she loves so much.

Fixed it for ya. Here's a version. David Bromberg (who accompanies him here) does a version that may be my favorite. He was the first I ever heard do the song and they used to play a long version on FM100 late at night back in the day. Jerry Jeff is one of my all time favorites (my musical tastes are all over the board).

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. My wife and I always have numerous cats and dogs. We know how it is to lose one. God Bless.

We lost our dog Missy Lou this week. We buried her yesterday. I can definitely sympathize with you. My daughter is heartbroken right now.

This always makes me think of "Better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all."
Still, it just hurts. It does get better with time and a new puppy really helps.
We are still thinking about you and Brandi.
