TN gets another car plant
Tennessee gets another car plant.

This time it's Volkswagen in Chattanooga.

In case you're keeping score:

Middle TN: 2
East TN: 1
West TN: 0

Isn't our U.S. Senator Bob Corker from and the former Mayor of Chattanooga?

I'm not saying that he has anything to do with it, but when our Governor, Senators, and all but two of our Representatives (one being a rookie) are from either Middle or East Tennessee you shouldn't expect much for this side of the state. I would rather have seen that plant somewhere around Jackson or Memphis.

This would have had more responses on NTR, DockFinch, or Political.

I'm sure it didn't hurt Chatty to have that connection... It's time to flex our weight by backing local and regional candidates.

We won't get major new industry in Memphis metro with the air quality concerns and the EPA. Jackson would be a good location.

Huntsville was in the running for that one and was considered the leading candidate until late last week. Gov. Riley has backed opportunities such as this regardless of where in the state it may land. TN is still and will always be one of the most divided states there is.
Really sucked not getting that down here. The plant would have been about 5 miles from my house so the property values would have jumped significantly. Business wise I win anyway because Chat. is in my territory and this will be a big boost and a target for me.

I don't think Memphis has ANY problem with that at all. The only two sites the CA mentions were between Memphis and Jackson (north of 40 around Brownsville). Memphis has already offered assistance to other areas in W. Tenn in the past (offered assistance to Jackson for their Toyota pursuit, don't know if Jackson took them up on the offer).
