NTR/ Lester Street
A friend of mine is a patrolman for MPD, and said he was the first one on the scene at Lester Street.

He reminded me the episode is on First 48 tomorrow night on A & E, in case
anyone was interested.

The 10 year old boy was the one to put the finger on the murderer.

That was a good episode. Sad, but they did a good job of telling the story.[/align]

they did a great job covering this, and it made me sad all over again to see that murderer so nonchalant about killing 6 people...his own family

Amazing episode about a horrific tragedy.

Toney Armstrong conducted a masterful interrogation.

This episode (and each episode) does the city a great favor by showing the incredible jobs that the homicide division did.

Too bad this was the last Memphis episode and we will not be able to see the police in action like this again.

I believe I recently read that there may be a change of heart. Here is the link as a matter of fact. Just a personal opinion, I get no pride from the crimes that were committed, but I am filled with it due to the jobs that the Homicide Division does.

that brought tears to my eyes, so sad but what an amazing job done by the entire homicide department...Memphis really showed what kind of city we could be if we all put our differences aside and came together like we all did that week in March.

Quote:In the end, though, the Lester Street mass murder proved to be not only one of the worst crimes in Memphis history but also just another hour of entertainment on cable television.

That's what concerns Valorie Smith, the guardian ad litem appointed to represent the surviving children's interests for the duration of legal proceedings. Although no images of the children were aired, A&E did show pictures of the bloody bathroom and bedrooms in which they were killed or wounded.

"It does bother me that this would be viewed as entertainment," she said. "This is a very tragic circumstance. These children lost a tremendous amount. They lost family members. This is a very difficult situation, and to have this played on the TV again and all the comments it will elicit, I find this very disturbing."

Producers of the show were unavailable for comment Tuesday.

The airing of the Lester Street episode comes at a precarious time for producers of "The First 48." Following complaints from City Council members, the Memphis Police Department chose not to renew its contract with the show's production company.

However, Police Director Larry Godwin said earlier this month he is reconsidering that decision.

it was hard to watch, but i'm glad i did....

to see those homicide guys who have seen all kinds of horrible things be so shaken up over it was upsetting.

...and jessie dotson's initial interview when he wasn't a suspect was nothing short of disturbing...his grin sent chills down my back.

Ditto. To see them have the actual killer right in the interrogation room only 15 hrs into the investigation was chilling. And then to watch him spin it into a gang thing made me sick.

RE: NTR/ Lester Street
Ok so I just watched all of it....

That sick SOB! Im happy they got him. But watching him interview the first time made me sick!
I do hope they let the first 48 stay here in Memphis. I thought they did a great job! I find some comfort knowing that when the cameras are rolling that they do the best they can. Not saying that they would not do the same if the first 48 was not taping.
Neways, I to am happy I watched it.

I would also like to say that there was NOTHING entertaining about this show!

I'll say this...I learned tons more in one hour (including commercials) than in the countless TV news stories and newspaper articles I read. I thought it was very well put together and am glad they gave this case the entire hour. Kudos to A&E. Here's hoping the MPD comes to their senses and signs another contract.
