RE: ESPN BOTTOM LINE REPORTS
Is it Schiano to Penn St., then? What if he has a bad year at RU this coming season?

RE: ESPN BOTTOM LINE REPORTS
The report is that Penn State is telling their recruits that Joe P. will leave after this season and that someone on his staff will replace him as head coach. That's what ESPN was reporting Tuesday.

If they have any sense Tom Bradley the DC will replace JoePa.

RE: ESPN BOTTOM LINE REPORTS
I bet Schiano stays at Rutgers, and will not replace Paterno at Penn State.
Why follow a legend? It's a no-win situation, and he's now entrenched in New Jersey. If he stays, Rutgers will become a national power in no-time flat - and I think he realizes this.
He will also become bigger than legend if he stays in New Jersey. At Penn State he'd be another chapter in the book. At Rutgers, he IS the book.
He ain't stupid, ya know...

I think you're right, Jackson. They'll have to drag JoePa out of his office to get him out of there.

RE: ESPN BOTTOM LINE REPORTS
As wrong as it sounds, I also think JoePa is being forced out. He's a legend but even legends need to know when its time to step down. He had 5-10 years to leave on his own terms. I don't blame PSU at all.

I agree. It's gotten to the point where his age is a detriment. How can he recruit players who think he could die during any game before they graduate?

When he says this was always his dream job its not a lie. My aunt is very close with his parents and when all the Miami talk was going down he was never even considering it. Michigan he did consider but knew where home was push come to shove. The man is revered here and as you say bit, he is the book. Does he want to be yet another hired gun to one of the big boys or does he want to be the Knute Rockne, Bear Bryant, Joe Paterno of Rutgers? I personally think after turning down Miami and Michigan that that answer is already clear.

I hear you Brista. But don’t expect “them” not to talk about it.
BK said no to UCLA, Nebraska and Georgia Tech, and that hasn’t shut ‘em up yet.

Exactly the formula that any smart coach would follow. Let someone else take the heat for the first few years for replacing a legend, and then when that guy gets fired after a couple of mediocre seasons, you can be the coach that brings the program back to its glory (with desperate alums throwing money at you like crazy to lure you in).
