Van Halen, Boston, Kansas, Styx, Foreigner, Nugent, Who, Wille Nelson.
One (Boston, I think) started at 1:00 or so during the fire and police department strikes.
No cops. Wackey tobaccy was a bit prevalent that day. And it was surreal coming out of a show with the sun still up.

Rush (several times)

Nugent - Scorpions - Def Leppard

Styx

Van Halen

ZZ Top

Bryan Adams

Prince

That's all I can think of at the moment. I used to work there in the accounting office. There were several times I had to work during the concerts preparing the show settlements for the promoters.

The MSC collected the ticket revenue (it was the original TicketMaster in the area) which was due the promoter.

We'd calculate the show expenses:
  • Building rental
  • Utilities
  • Stage set-up and rental
  • Staffing (security, ushers, etc)
  • Other expenses (laser hookups, bus-hookups, electrical hookups, etc)

We'd deduct the expenses from the ticket revenue.

We'd add a percentage of the novelty sales (t-shirts, programs, etc) as a fee due the MCS.

Once we came up with the final number we'd cut a check to the promoter for ticket sales less expenses less novelty sales percentage.

Back in those days the MSC turned a profit. So much so that it paid off it's construction cost to the city (60%) and county (40%).

The MSC was held in high regard in the arena industry as one of the few buildings that actually did turn a profit.

Those were the days.

I probably attended 40 concerts there but the 4 times I saw AC/DC there were awesome with the FTATR tour being the best.
Run DMC and the Beastie Boys were also cool.

New Kids on the Block---haha! That was my first concert and I don't remember any others I went to. And to think that they are back together trying to make a comeback.

I think I saw the same ones. I sat on stage during a Sabbath concert once..that had to be the best. Ozzy came over and sat down next to me during a Bill Ward drum solo.

I didn't attend many there, but my favorite was Travis Tritt, Charlie Daniels Band, and Hank Jr.

That was probably around July of 97 or so.
