NTR- Comcast Business Class
Off the wall question....but do any of you have Comcast at your WORK...I'm not trying to start a cable -vs- Satellitte home flame war...I'm curious about their business class internet.
I've been quoted 16mbps down/2mbps upload for $89.00 per month.
I'm seriously debating it...
Anybody got it at the office? How's the reliability? Is the response time better when there are issues?

RE: NTR- Comcast Business Class
I've been using it for quite a while in the "teleworker" mode in my home office from back when it was still Time Warner. The support is better (quicker, dedicated phone number, etc), and the router is a little more configurable. Also, the speed is excellent.

20-30.
We'll eventually be housing an EHR/HR software that our users from our homes throughout the community (25-30) to login in to update client records, clock in/out, etc.
16mbps down/2mbps would support that I'd like to think.
They're trying to talk me into voice...but I don't wanna go that way. We'll eventually be getting a PRI (when we upgrade our phone system)...as a non-profit, I want to cut costs as much as possible without sacrificing reliability.

Let me know how it goes, we're going to look at Comcast Internet for our non-profit in the next few months as well.

Amen to that.
We don't have AT&T here, but at my last job, I actually selected them as my vendor. We had 6 locations (Memphis, Brentwood, Palm Springs, CA X2, and Malibu, CA).
It was an absolute disaster.
If not for my sales rep, I would have burned down the "Bat Building" lol.
My only concern with Comcast is reliability- I can't have internet that is up and down.
As an IT person, the word 'Comcast' is scary....but if the commercial class is better than the residential class (from a customer repair/service perspective), then it makes good sense.

I am not sure what the downtime is with business cable. Personal experience, not with Comcast, is the potential for longer downtimes than with a T1 service. If your T1 is down which it rarely is then it is usually back up with an hour or so. With cable downtime can generally be a day or so. Of course, T's run you around $500 or so a month.
Curious what your EHR software is since that is what I support and write code for.

Haven't purchased yet- just in the 'information gathering' stage. I was hired with the stated goal of being 'paperless' in two years.
I'm personally familiar with the TIER workflow system by Sequest Technologies (that's the only one I've ever worked with). I'm not sure how that fits for us...especially since we are more long-term care...and probably not quite as 'medical' as most health care organizations.

RE: NTR- Comcast Business Class
we use them up here, & we have probably 40-ish consistent users, i'd say. (the others are computers back in the warehouse that aren't used all the time.)

RE: NTR- Comcast Business Class
I own a business. We had Comcast business class. It worked great. But I had 2 issues within 2 weeks time. (1. Cable went out for a day and 2. we were moving and needed to have the account moved)
The customer service was non existent. I dumped comcast because of poor customer service. I can deal with a connection hic-up from time to time. But there is no reason for a 27 minute hold time. There is no reason to not return phone calls. I refuse to be treated that way.

As long as you're shopping around I would check out Speakeasy ( http://www.speakeasy.net/). It's going to be more expensive, but it also comes with a 99.99% SLA.
