My wifes new discovery
She has grown up without cable tv and we got it when we got married. Tonight she discovered Lifetime and Lifetime original movies. My life is now officially over. Football can't come quick enough.

I second that. My wife watches HGTV for hours at a time.

Yeah, but our main computer is in the same room as the best TV so in my small house hearing women focused shows it is unavoidable. 03-melodramatic

It's not as bad as my girlfriend coming over to watch MTV, Spike, and VH1 on my widescreen tv that I use for the computer.

It makes it harder for me to feel sorry for you when you are using a widescreen TV as a computer monitor. LOL HAHA

My girlfriend moved into a new house 3-4 months ago and still hasnt had cable or satalite tv hooked up yet. I was shocked. I thought cable/satalite just came standard in all houses these days(ok not literally but honestely who doesnt have it). When I found out she had been living in the house without cable for a little over a month I was shocked and started to ask how she kept up with college basketball(mind you this was around the time the tourny started) but then stopped and realized that she was a chick and either was at the Memphis games or heard from others, like me, what had happened. Still amazed though. Its 2008, people who live below the poverty level even have cable so how do more fortunate people not???

You're just getting started. Wait until she discovers not working and staying home all day. Then she'll discover weekly (or daily) housecleaning service since she's too busy working in her garden that cost you $325 a month at Home Depot for fertilizer, plantings, landscaping, etc. Then, when she gets bored with that, she'll want to start her own home-based ceramic business (at least you better hope it's home-based because building rent, utilities, phone, internet, etc. is expensive). Do you want me to keep going? Your life was over when you said "I do". You're just not old enough to have figured that out yet.

RE: My wifes new discovery
I'm lucky. My wife grew up way, WAY, WAY out in the sticks. As her Dad would say, they got one or two channels out of Nashville if the wind blew right. She was raised on a farm and she has the most unbelievable work ethic ever. She barely watched TV growing up, and really doesn't watch it to this day. We have been married 12 years, and I have never seen her sit down and watch an hour-long TV show from beginning to end (tiger b-ball games are an exception). She will literally work a 12 hour day and then come home and sweep floors, do laundry, etc no joke. She doesn't cook however, but I do, so I'll take the trade off. I've got friends whose wives don't work, and they still have to do their own laundry on the weekends???

His life was over when he said "will you marry me (and steal my soul and my testicles)?"
