RE: West Virginia gets 2nd RB commitment
I see your highly ranked #11 RB committ and raise you 12 commits including a four star back in Aaron Hayward who just committed today. No questions here as to who will be fighting for top recruiting class in the BE.

Bulls have some nice commits especially from that rb Adaris Bellamy but they still have a long long way to go to catch up to RU and WVU. If you go by Scout WVU has 9 commits(not including the RB they got today) 1 5 star 3 4 star and 5 3 stars. RU has 12 4 4 stars and 8 3 stars. In the past 3 weeks alone we picked up 7 commits. Schiano is doing an amazing job persuading kids to come here. But let me add in that Recruiting rankings don't mean everything. Pitt Cincy and Uconn can testify to that.

agreed but USF is in the running for quite a few 4 and even 5 stars if that comes thru watch out.
As it is we have 5 commits 2 are 4stars and 2 are three stars. The JUCO hasnt been rated yet but will probably end up being a three star ones.

Here's a bit more info on Hargrett... The Charleston Gazette Wrote:Miami prep star commits to WVU
Hargrett played for USA Today's No. 1 program
By Mitch Vingle

June 19, 2008
West Virginia University tailback Noel Devine is just a sophomore, but candidates are already lining up to replace him.
On Wednesday, Miami Northwestern High running back Daquan Hargrett became the 10th player to commit to the Mountaineers for 2009.
"It seemed the [WVU] coaches were down to earth and genuine," Hargrett said in an interview with the Gazette. "I won't regret the decision. [WVU] is a championship team and I'm a championship player."
Northwestern was named the nation's top program last season in the USA Today Super 25 ranking after winning Florida's 6A state championship by a 41-0 count over Boone High of Orlando. The Bulls also won the 2006 6A title (34-24 over Lake Brantley) and finished No. 5 in the Super 25 ranking.
The 5-foot-8, 175-pound back said he turned down offers from Iowa, Clemson, Minnesota, South Florida, Buffalo and Florida International.
"It was the right time [to commit],'' Hargrett said. "The reason is, this gives me time to get familiar with the team and the program."
The back, who said he was recruited by WVU assistant Doc Holliday, rushed for 882 yards on 117 carries with 12 touchdowns last season. He also caught eight passes for 161 yards and one score.
Hargrett said he'd like to become next in line after WVU standouts Steve Slaton and Devine.
"I know I compare to both," said the back. "I'm the same type [of runner], plus I love the spread offense. I'll fit perfectly there.''
Hargrett said he plans to take the ACT this summer, but that his grades are "very good."
"I'm not a problem child,'' he said.
The Miami Herald has rated the running back as talent-rich Miami/Dade County's No. 20 recruit. Hargrett has been awarded a three-star rating by Rivals.com. The service also calls him the nation's No. 18 all-purpose back.
Hargrett is the second tailback to commit to WVU for 2009. The other is Shawne Alston of Hampton, Va. The Mountaineers, once thin at the position, also have incoming backs Mark Rodgers, Zach Hulse and, possibly, Terrance Kerns.

RE: West Virginia gets 2nd RB commitment
I figure a few of the Mountaineer's primary targets are going to wait and see what kind of coach Stew is before they commit. The overall strength of WVU's class may depend on the Mountaineers' season. The better their record, the better the overall class, is my guess.
But you never know. Kids could do just about anything. There's no telling.
