RE: Has anyone ever taken a Carnival cruise?
I've been on two cruises out of Miami, one on Royal Carribbean and the other on Carnival (Paradise). Both were fine but I preferred Royal Carribbean due to the better food service experience.

I tried to smuggle some soft drinks on board but tripped getting off of the bus at the port of Miami, breaking the fall with my carry on bag with the drinks. My wife proceeded to tell me once we were inside the building at the port that my bag was leaking all over the place! We got mixed up on the ramps inside the building after we registered that we almost boarded the wrong ship! Never will forget that day.

RE: Has anyone ever taken a Carnival cruise?
I did a Carnival cruise about twenty years ago and it was great for my child. But I think the Royal Carribbean ships are so much nicer, esp. the ones with the multi-story atriums down the middle. We took one last summer to the Carribbean and didn't have enough time to do everything on the ship in 7 days! Their ships are so smooth and luxurious, I was just blown away. And the shore excursions were affordable and added an element to the cruise that was just not to be missed! A ride on the America's cup sailboat was the highlight, with my daughter and I serving as part of the crew.

We did have about 1000 children of all ages from infants to teenagers on the cruise, so if you don't want all of that activity, ask your agent for a cruise with fewer kiddos.

My daughter did a sister cruise line cruise on Celebrity this spring and liked it a lot, but still thought RC was the best. Any cruise is wonderful, and you may not know what you are missing unless you carefully compare Cruise Critic and ask as many friends as you can which ones they like the best. I am sure the smaller, more elite ships are wonderful in their own ways, too. Bon voyage!
