Our own Big East Predictions
So it's all in one thread to look back on later in the year once the season is underway. I don't think it's too early to do this considering it's mid-June now 02-13-banana

You can do standings, tiers, 1-8 rankings, whatever. I prefer the unranked tier system myself:

Tier 1:
West Virginia - til someone can knock them off, the champs get this slot to themselves

Tier 2:
USF - Bunch of starters back, always tough, this could be their year
UC - Go ahead and underestimate our coach and watch what happens
Pitt - Perhaps Wanny gets over the hump now

Tier 3:
UConn - They'll be on a mission to prove last year wasn't a fluke
Louisville - Tough for me to decide where to put them, but since Brohm is gone along with a few others, I'm comfortable with them here for now. They could be the wild card of the conference.
Rutgers - I'll be honest, of all the teams, I know the least about the Knights this year. I'll probably be far off on this one.

Tier 4:
Syracuse - Maybe they'll be stronger this year, but so will everybody else

RE: Our own Big East Predictions
1) WVU
2) USF
3) UC
4) Pitt
5/6/7) UL/UConn/RU (tie, can't make up my mind)
8) Cuse

That's the way I see it now. You could jumble around #s 2-7 in about any order, and it wouldn't make make much difference. Wouldn't be shocked to see anyone in contention besides Syracuse.

Trust me. You're giving Pitt too much credit. Wanny's their coach, remember?

The media keeps telling us how much great talent they have so you start to believe it after a while.

Pitt's always gotten talent, or so the media's always said. I believe it when I see evidence that Wanny knows how to use that talent. So far, I've seen nothing.

What have I been saying the past 3-4 years BIT. We got to wait to 08 don't beleive the media hype until 08. This will be 08 and I'm going to stand by my predictions the past few seasons and say Pitt is going to explode this season. I expect 9-10 wins possibly more. The key is getting the ball to the recievers and it'll open up McCoy even more. The defense speaks for itself. Anything less than 8 wins will be dissapointing and you may see get Vince McMahan treatment if you know what I mean.

Here is mine:

1. West Virginia
2. South Florida
3. U Conn
4. Cincinnati
5. Rutgers
6. Pittsburgh
7. Louisville
8. Syracuse

Until Wanny does something other than 1 game wonder by beating WVU, Pitt won't go anywhere. I fully expect UCONN to beat Pitt when they come to the Rent.

But I think injuries and turn overs could lead any of the top 7 to beat any of the others.
I think USF and WV are the top 2
Pitt,UConn,Cincy and Rutgers could switch places with each other
Louisville is a little behind them but capable of jumoing one or two of them

RE: Our own Big East Predictions
You Louisville guys aren't too high on your team this year. With 8 home games and a favorable schedule, I think you improve some over last year...problem is the rest of the conf. is loaded, so will it pay off in wins. Can this be the best the BE has EVER been top to bottom? A lot of us weren't paying too much attention prior to the ACC raid days, but it seems there used to be more bottom feeders. This conf. is loaded 1-7.

I'm going to wait until AFTER the '08 season. Talk to me about it then. 07-coffee3

I live in east Tennessee, and don't travel to games, so I doubt it. Even if I had been in Morgantown after the game, I wouldn't think about Wannstet no matter the circumstance. I never think about him at all, unless someone starts talking about what a great coach he is due to his mediocre NFL coaching career.

RE: Our own Big East Predictions
I have no idea what the final standings will like other than until somebody takes down WVU. I guess WVU's new coach is running the same offense and defense as Rich Rod? As a Bearcat fan I can tell you that every Big East game for UC last year was decided by single digits except UConn and Syracuse.

The offense is the same, and then again it isn't. The motion will look different, as will the passing attack. The diversification of the offense should make the Mountaineer offense even more formidable. The defense won't change, just the personnel. No matter how you look at it, WVU will be a big challenge for any team.

Then I am giving WVU the nod to win the Big East.

RE: Our own Big East Predictions
It will be interesting to see what happens at WV. You can say all about no changing of offense/defense or making it more potent. But you still dont know how the team and fans would react to the new coach losing 1 or 2 games.
There will be lots of pressure and if WV slips against someone that they were expected to beat, the comparisons to Rich Rod would start. Lose two and the fans will start second guessing the new coach.
It will not be easy following Rich Rod after what he had done last few years and WV fans have gotten used to being the big dog, they will not react calmy to a couple of upsets.
