Cal's Elite Camp
Anyone know who is attending Cal's elite camp this weekend? Wolken said that Xavier Henry would be here and I would think other top prospects would be as well. I believe its the same camp that Angel Garcia made an impression in last year.

RE: Cal's Elite Camp
For the only time during the Cal era; our froncourt will be loaded next year. We will have Taggart, Niles, Simpkins, Garcia and probably Negedu and Rashanti Harris. That is 6 players at the 4/5 for next season. With Evans and Anderson gone; it will be very easy for Cal to sell a Henry/Stephenson/Wall/Gaddy type on coming here to lead us to a championship, because we will be down to Kemp, Mack and Witherspoon in the backcourt.

I know we've been said to be the leader for Harris - but will he be eligible for next year?

Wonder if Negedu will extend his visit that far?

I'm not going to say it is a totally done deal, but it is very likely Harris will sign in November to be part of the '09 class. He has been at Patterson Prep since early May, but his chances of qualifying for this fall is not likely. No worries, Cal has him tucked away with his buddy, Coach Chaney at Patterson. Unless something drastic changes, Harris will sign with the Tigers. The kid is a physical beast, similiar to Dorsey (not quite as athletic as Dorsey, but a solid 6'9+ and a solid 245. Does the dirty work on the boards and has good touch inside. I think he may be the key to complimenting all the good scoring guards and wings we are in on and have on the team.

I think he is talking about 2009, at which point Harris will certainly be eligible. I think Niles needs to be removed from that list, however I still think you can easily sell any PG/SG/SF on Memphis with the list of frontcourt players we have. You also left off Robinson in the backcourt.

Can we please quit leaving Robinson out? I think he will really show something this year with more minutes.

cal already has a strong case to get henry. henry's ultimate goal, like all talented players, is to get to the nba. cal's track record has been impressive at putting kids in the nba and if rose goes no. 1 he will prove to henry that you can come to memphis, buy into our system of playing hard and subbing in-and-out and still make a difference, and still get picked no. 1 in the draft. man, if rose gets drafted no. 1, that will add another big target for cal and his recruiting. seriously, a great selling point.

very cool - I didn't know that about Henry. So that would make the last two Memphis Madness events and now Cal's elite camp the summer before he commits. Although he may end up at KU, I get a little tired of so-called 'experts' assuming it's a done deal. If that were the case, he wouldn't be spending so much time with us.
I'm not sure who all will be here besides Henry, but Roburt Sallie will be one of them. I don't know if he'll be part of the camp per se, but he is scheduled for a recruiting visit this weekend.
