negedu begins his visits today with indiana
of the 4 coaches recruiting him
calapari
pearl
crean
hewitt
which have the best chance at getting him
cal has gotten recruits like derrick rose, dajuan wagner, shawne williams
pearl has gotten recruits like scotty hopson, duke crews, ramar smith
crean has gotten recruits like .....actually crean has signed a total of 5 players the past 2 years which includes 4 3 stars and a 2 star
hewitt signed thad young

obviously your dealing with two subpar recruiters and a pretty on par recruiter
so how does this pan out

Bruce Pearl isn't a bad recruiter for only being there a few years...

They're all formidable recruiters. . .but with us being the anchor leg, and Pastner now on board, well. . .if I was a betting man, I'd put my money on the Tigers. And I'm a betting man.

Safe bet that Pastner is on board, HoopDreams. So to some degree that's a personal point in the favor of the Tigers. Other schools may also have their personal points. Who knows but the young man himself? From a basketball perspective, however, I think we have a much better case to make to him than the other schools. He may very well be the missing ingredient for our team and for another serious run this year. If I were a betting man, Tiger Todd, I would be betting with you.

If your going to put Scotty Hopson on that list - then you need to add Tyreke Evans. Clearly it is a 2 horse race.

Crean can also drop the name of D-Wade, which ain't too shabby in the eyes of recruits. Same as D-Rose will be for us. John Wall has already been quoted as having gotten a D-Rose comparison from Cal, which he liked. Heck, I wish I could get that comparison. Closest I've gotten is, "You're a D-Scrace."

RE: negedu
Hewitt recruited Javaris Crittenton and Thad Young both 5 star players two years ago, both now in the NBA. Has another 5 star coming in this year. He also recruited Jarret Jack and Chris Bosh, two more NBAers.

So he's done pretty well himself. He has the ACC to offer, good academics and a major city.

With that said, i don think GT has a chance for Negedu.

I think it's more realistic to replace "Calipari" with "Pastner" since it seems that Pastner might be the only reason Negedu lists Memphis this go round. Indiana and the Hill Folk were among Nedegu's final team before he picked Arizona -

Just like when Ebanks came to town for us (which I think ended up being a bad omen), the IU area has been under tornado warnings today. Here is a little blurb from one of their boards:

Quote:Thx craig i didnt knwo how to spell his name and i thaught i woudl get crushed by you guys for it lol.
As im sitting in my house reit now rain is falling at an unbelieveabel clip and thunder roars overhead. There was a tornado siren at about 1130 12 but nutin since. Im hoping this inclement weather dosnt scare him off.

Maybe strong thunderstorms are bad for recruiting? 03-wink

Is that poster in college at Indiana or has he already graduated? He is either spelling or typing challenged.

Vernon has posted the Goodman interview on his blog. Despite Verno patting Goodman on the back for this breaking news, there is nothing really new here, if you are a regular reader of MT.org. It is further confirmation that we are in strong with Sallie and Negedu, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

http://chrisvernon.blogspot.com/

If the speculation on other threads about us losing out on Stephenson and the asst. coaching changes affecting the 2009 class is correct, do we take both of these guys if we can get them and try to make another run next year?

Verno needs to checked out this board more often then maybe he would know who Roburt Sallie is. I remember him from a few years back. Also Goodman said Cal blames him for Ebanks going to W.V. so he says he won't speak to Negedu.

Who knows which way the wind will blow next year? Bestest firstest bird in the hand. Never test the fleeting fickle finger of fate. He who hesitates is lost. Why put off until tomorrow...

It would be sheer folly to count on next year's recruits. If these guys will help us win a National Championship this year, get them if at all possible. John Wall can hold his own against anyone next year. Same with X-man. Rashanti is a man and will help someone's team tremendously. If these guys want to play with a winning team next year (and PLENTY will), Cal will find a way for them to contribute. Everyone will be happy. Those who are unhappy are not really interested in our team's success first and foremost and should go elsewhere.
