Or it could be straight up. My guess is that it is a little of both. Plan A - improve your hand in CUSA. Plan B - Improve your hand if the BE calls - and get out of CUSA w/o a penalty (i.e. - I tried to make CUSA equitable and was ignored. That along with other factors that are already established to prove his case - IF it comes down to it.)

Or
Plan C- ECU can just pay whatever penalties there are like ECU agreed to and like every other program that has left a conference to join another has done, and thereby avoid a long legal case that will tie everything up, ala RichRod.

That could very well be the case aslo. Where are you at in Rochacha?? I use to live there. I knew alot of people from Pittsboro.

I see you are alot smarter than me since you decided to leave this snow forsaken town.

-Charlotte won't consider football unless they have a good conference to join, and the CUSA would be perfect.
-TCU would obviously be ideal, but that can not be certain.

I don't buy WKU and MTSU on a major conference level. What about Troy? South Alabama basketball is good and they would be nice for football since they will be playing in Mobile. Nobody ever mentions Arkansas State either.

This is by far the most sensible post I've have seen regarding CUSA and expansion. For the most part CUSA programs are based in big cities. This is why I don't think WKU or MTSU would work. But if I'm Bano, I'm definitely trying to get my hands on Charlotte. I would love TCU to come back into the fold but I don't see that happening. Therefore, I would not have a problem with South Alabama being that 2nd choice. They are in Mobile which is about to overtake Birmingham as the largest city in Alabama and we have a bowl game there.

CUSA could stay at 10 programs until Charlotte and USA were ready to become Div I programs. Then you would be getting two decent basketball programs that doesn't replace Memphis but does help ease the loss to a certain degree.

I think it would be smart for cusa to go up to 14 or even 16 for all the reason's Holland suggest...the league does seem to be an odd collection of school's in some spot's so by filling in the gaps, you get a more conference feel + throw in cutting down on travel and serving as a buffer for when the big east expands. Ideally, tcu would come back in the west and temple in the east...yet i don't think that is happening but even popping La tech or new mex state, maybe both, if they go to 16, in the west and west Ky and team x-uncc if they add football would be choice #1, again if they want to go to 16 in the east but 14 is probably better, works. Of course, the problem is $'s, adding these school's might make life easier from a travel point and generate more fan interest but probably would cost each school some bucks.

For hoops, play each division member twice for 12 games, than one team from the other division twice and two others once for a total of 16 games. For football, play a 6-1-1 format.

I think TH's plan is a pretty darn good one (and I'd say same were it any other AD who proposed it).....

I think, however, the "entire" idea of going to 2 8-team divisions is the best way to go - with no crossover games until championship games.....

TCU and one of La. Tech/NMS/USA, etc. would fit for the "west", and 2 of Navy, Temple, WKU, MTSU would be good fits for the "East".....

The biggest problem with CUSA (for so many reasons) is that is is so spread out...this idea merely regionalizes the divisions, and I think betters the conference as a whole - and makes each school stronger, as well....

I think i'd go to 14 and than wait to see what the big east does but 14 teams for cusa should be an easy sell if the folks running cusa thought about it. Eventually, i could see two nine team leagues getting carved out of cusa...put La tech, New Mex state, and than either TCU or N texas in the west for a nice local 9 team league. As for the east, just depends on what the big east does but they got alot of potential picks to get to 9 from whatever base is left after the big east move. Also, don't really see any MAC school's , ie ohio or miami being interested in leaving the MAC.
