Politics of the Past?
I thought the left wing messiah was above this?

Obama warns seniors on Social Security threats

Quote:Democrat Barack Obama told seniors Sunday that Republican John McCain would threaten the Social Security that they and millions like them depend on because he supports privatizing the program.

This is the same tactic used by Jimmy Carter. Talk about politics of fear! Come on Barack Hussein Obama aren't you better than this?

Pointing out differences in policy is totally different than saying, the terrorist support Obama. Or, he's an appeaser. Or saying his middle name, like that is supposed to scare me or something.

Actually, I haven't seen a single privitization proposal which would affect the benifits of retirees (or even those near retirement). Even if there was one, I'm sure that McCain wouldn't support it due to the power of the AARP & related seniors lobbies. So in this case Obama is unfairly using scare tactics, or politics as usual, against McCain.

Being fair hasn't been part of the Obama game plan so far. Why would he start now?

Particularly considering that the mainstream press have given him free pass after free pass, and there's every reason to expect that they will do so until the election.

If the mainstream media attacked Obama's weaknesses with the same vigor with which they've gone after Hillary and McCain, I would expect his popularity to drop like a rock. I think Hillary's game plan is to hang in there and hope that happens at some point prior to the convention, in which case there'd be a lot of superdelegates with tough decisions to make.

Of course, what are the chances that will happen? Probably slim to none.

Let's clarify shall we? Politics of fear, any campaign statement that makes voters fear for their well being. That would include economic well being. Apparently Obama has chosen advisors that know next to nothing about financing the Social Security System leading him to make statements that show he too is ignorant on the subject.

First short of a separate decision to directly cut benefits no current SSI retiree will be impacted by financing changes. Second as someone pointed out most folks nearing retirement age (in the next ten years) will get the same benefits structure as current retirees. Third the ratio of workers to retirees is declining which means either SSI withholding investments need to earn more, or the US Government will have to fund the obligation to the retirees. How you ask?!? Raise taxes something Obama would probably be the best ever at doing.

What does this all mean? Barack H...... Obama is engaging in the politics of fear, but is very offended if someone else makes a statement he views as doing the same.

it's rather pathetic he's telling everyong to "lay off his wife", when he's the one sending her out on the Campaign Trail to campaign and say the things she's said on his behalf.

newsflash Bambi, if you really want her off limits get her off the campaign trail. otherwise she's legitimate
