D'Antoni is going to regret that later. He got more money, but that team is brutal! At least after next year they get the $20 million of Stephon Marbury off their books.

I must have lost touch with what NBA coaches are getting paid because $6 million seems like a lot to pay for a guy who hasn't even coached in the finals.

Carlisle's deal in Dallas makes sense to me. $6 million for D'Antoni seems like about a million and a half per year too much.

That said- does Paxson have an overall plan?

Yes, and I'll outline it for ya: to be the most incompetent, indecisive GM in the league.

How is that system going to work with Zach Randolph smokin up on the way down the court and thinking about how much Eddy Curry likes to run. Also, is there anyone that resembles Steve Nash on that team? Heck is there anyone that resembles Jose Calderon?!?

Why is Paxson still the GM? I'd rather have Jerry Krause. Paxson couldn't get Garnett, Kobe, Gasol and now he even misses on coaches. This damn team isn't going to play defense no matter who is coaching them.

You can blame this on Jerry Reinsdorf. Paxson had a contract drawn up with everything ready to go Thursday and Reinsdorf wouldn't approve the money that Paxon and D'Antoni has talked about.

Although I agree with Pax being a little slow doing some stuff, this and other things this past summer are all on Reinsdorf.

I'm not so sure this is Paxson's fault. I'm thinking Reinsdorf was not willing to pony up as much cash and the Knicks organization seems to have no problem spending money freely.

In the end, it seems like D'Antoni cared more about the money. If he didn't i don't know why he would want to coach that roster.

+1

If D'Antoni was the #1 option, Avery is as good of a #2 option as you will find.
