I think it's pretty telling that Notre Dame has to go to a Pac-10 school in order to get a non-conference game. The Big East isn't so willing to accomodate them anymore.

All of ND's games are non-conference games.

I really do not think that ND has talked to BE teams about playing neutral site games in the South/Southwest.

So any new on that team that was repacing Rutgers? I mean he did say that a replacement team was knocking the door down to play.

Baylor was supposed to be the team to play ND in Jerry's World but the Big-12 claimed home tv rights. ND replaced Baylor with Arizona State, ND claims the "home" game, and ND is telecast on its NBC network.

The Baylor game is reportedly going to be played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

All of ND's games are non-conference games.

Obviously I know that, but I specifically mentioned non-conference because Notre Dame was trying like crazy to get a Big East team on its schedule. Trust me, we all know that Notre Dame isn't part of the Big East conference.

I really do not think that ND has talked to BE teams about playing neutral site games in the South/Southwest.

Talking to, and scheduling are two different things.

Do you really think a Big East team was even considered?

If anything, this shows Notre Dame has more options than the Big East to "boss" around. Rutger's "no" was an isolated incidence. It likely had more to do with Rutgers and the state of New Jersey's plan to expand their stadium than a Big East team standing up to the Irish.

With the kind of rent Jerry wants for these games, TCU should tell him to stick it and play at Amon Carter Stadium instead.

That is what I was trying to say, I don't think that ND even approached or considered talking to/scheduling any BE teams for these other neutral site games.

I think the BE teams are being approached only for games in places like the Meadowlands and Gillette.

That's our policy right now. However, if a team like Notre Dame wants to play a "home" game against us at the Cowboys Stadium, we'll listen. As for TCU home games, we'll continue to play 6+ of them per year at ACS. But, anything in the Cowboys Stadium and we're wearing the road whites.

RE: Notre Dame to "host" Arizona St in Dallas' new Cowboy Stadium
A deal like this is exactly the type of thing I was talking about with Notre Dame a few weeks ago. They can sign a 1-1-1 with Arizona State, including a neutral site game in Dallas, a 0-0-1 with Washington State for a neutral site game in San Antonio, and a 0-0-1 with Baylor for a neutral site game in New Orleans, but they will not extend such win-win offers to Big East teams.

It is the Big East that Notre Dame partners with for basketball and minor sports, not the Pac-10, and not the Big 12. Why couldn't Notre Dame offer neutral-neutral series to Rutgers and UConn rather than demanding a ridiculous 0-3-3? Playing teams from the Big East at Gillette Stadium and the Meadowlands would have been a positive and successful event for all of the parties.

Notre Dame could have signed up so many stiffs from other conferences to travel to South Bend for one-and-dones. There was no need to demand that Rutgers or UConn or any other Big East programs go there without getting any home games in return. All the Fighting Irish did with their recent approach is invite unnecessary negative media attention and embarrass the league.

There is still time though. UConn is stuck with a lopsided six-year deal but maybe Notre Dame will see the light as far as their policies are concerned with other Big East teams. There are still years for which they have not inked their barnstorming games. Many of those can take place at Gillette Stadium and the Meadowlands against Big East teams in a neutral-neutral series format.

You notice the only away game in those series is with Arizona State, who play at a NFL stadium in a big city.
The only comparables in the Big East are Pittsburgh (who ND plays a home-and-home already), South Florida (not yet the name opponent ND typically plays) and Cincinnati (see our other discussions: ND doesn't need any help in getting fans in Cincy).
