Abdul Gaddy - '09 5 star
Committed to Arizona - rivals says that Gaddy's commitment is now not very solid.

The Seattle Times blog site -
http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/hu...sting_ari/

Quote:There's some thought that if Pastner goes to Memphis, he may take highly-touted recruit Abdul Gaddy of Bellarmine Prep with him --- Gaddy is rumored to be waffling on his commitment due in part to all the uncertainty in Tucson.

Gaddy is scheduled to take his official visit to Arizona this weekend but Arizona Daily Star columnist Greg Hansen wonders how that will go if there's no assistant there to ferry him around.

I don't know if we would take him over John Wall. Have to see where his recruitment ends up going.

That's what I was thinking.

They're the #1 and #2 pg for 2009.

RE: Abdul Gaddy - '09 5 star
Rivals has updated their '09 listings and Memphis seems to be showing up --even more --on top recruits "favorites" list.
I'd be surprised if we don't see commits pretty early this year, with all that is happening-something we rarely have seen, previously.

Kids wanna play this style and see it as a better way to showcase their ability than in a "controlled", conventional offense.
Pro teams are gonna be doing it real soon, too.

Yes, it is good to be king.

Why not taking both of them?

You take whoever commits first.

I want John Wall. He is the fastest player in the country and is the best pg in the 09 class. I know there will never be another derrick rose, but Wall is the closest thing to a derrick rose clone.

Why not taking both of them?

because Joe Jackson is a 2010 PG recruit and the best player in the city

...and Joe Jackson is one of the top 10 players in the country for 2010...supposedly he's one of the quickest guards scouts have seen in quite a while, for whatever that's worth.

This is my thinking too. Whoever wants it most, take their commitment, and move on to other positions or the next year's recruiting class. You can drive yourself nuts trying to go over the pros and cons of each guy's game, but I don't think theres much difference between Wall (#1) and Gaddy (#2). Rivals has the rankings reversed for the most part, as well.

That is a great policy. Instead of Prince, we see CDR. Get who wants to be here and let the rest sign elsewhere.

John Wall reminds me of Snap Hunter.

Wall's team played Gaddy's yesterday:

John Wall vs. Abdul Gaddy – These two are high-level point guards. Gaddy’s team rallied for the win and that counts. Overall, we like these guys as 1-2 in the 2009 point guard rankings. Wall is elite and no matter the time zone, no one can check him; he went for 21 and 9 assists.

Gaddy (22 and 5) is more traditional and a natural set up man. Wall got by everyone they threw at him; Gaddy crafted his way past Wall on occasion. Wall’s not only the top PG prospect in the class, he’s one of the elite members of the 2009 group. Gaddy is tracking as a Top 25 prospect himself. Both were excellent Friday night.

If we do only sign two for 09, Cal said they would both be top 5. Right now Wall is the #1 pg, #9 overall according to Rivals.

Overall Rankings for 09:
Stephenson # 4
Henry #2

I think we will actually sign 3 maybe 4 for 09.

I think that we definitely sign three. Depends on how many enter the draft after next season.

we could easily sign 5...we have been told for the better part of two years now that the staff was saving scholarships for the 09 class because it was so loaded...I would be SHOCKED if they only signed two.
