Ebanks: 1) did not commit to Rutgers 2) is visiting Memphis

Quote:Ebanks Enjoyed RU Visit

St. Thomas More coach Jere Quinn says Devin Ebanks enjoyed his weekend visit to Rutgers.

"Devin enjoyed his visit, he certainly enjoyed his visit," Quinn said Tuesday by phone. "He enjoyed the coaches. He enjoyed the kids, and he was pretty impressed with everything

"And he is going to go visit Memphis this weekend. I'm assuming when he comes back from memphis he's going to make his decision."

Ebanks will graduate from St. Thomas More (Conn.) on May 17 and said he plans to announce sometime after that.

Ebanks has already seen West Virginia and Texas after asking for his release from Indiana.

Ebanks, the No. 13 overall recruit in the Class of 2008, previously said Tyreke Evans has been text-messaging him in an effort to get him to follow him to Memphis.

"It's a good situation for him, but if I go down there and see if it's a good situation for me, then we'll definitely be teammates," Ebanks said at the Jordan Brand Classic in New York.

The NCAA late signing period ends May 21. Something has to happen by the 21st. Also, any developments regarding assistant coaches and any mystery recruit will probably be resolved or will be unfolding in front of us by this date. Sit back and enjoy the craziness between now and the 21st. Only two weeks of chaos to go.

The kid looks like he would be a perfect fit in our system.

That's the part I liked. This guy is going to be a Tiger. I can just feel it. What will be "not to like" about his visit?

Sharing minutes with Witherspoon is what I worry about for him. I'm glad Spoon is flexible and able to be inserted at the two or the four (I assume Ebanks is as well.) if we need him to be. This allows us to "go small" (LOL) with AA, Evans, Kemp, Spoon/Ebanks, and Dozier/Tag, or go big with Evans, Spoon, Ebanks, Dozier, Tag. I hope Cal can sell him on the team dynamic, which I feel is the last hurdle to get over with this kid.

North Carolina's NC run had a freshman 6th man drafted ahead of the starters. Witherspoon has already stated starting is not important but winning is everything and we are going to win.

Sorry, I don't see ANY conflict with Witherspoon and Ebanks ....at all.
They are 2 different types of players, entirely. They likely won't play the same "positions" cuz of the nature of the style of the offense.

Bigger question is whether he wants to play in this style or not. I'm betting he will.

Don't be suprised to see Witherspoon at the point some. He talks a lot about getting the ball to others guys where they can score and Dan has mentioned the 1 as a possibility.

Playing time will be the least of his worries. Dozier and Taggart have been known to disappear, and Robinson and Witherspoon are unproven. If Ebanks is ready to go he will get 25 minutes a game. This is perfect as he won't be put into situations where he is exposed and he will have a lot of energy to make the most of his minutes.
