OT: Former Marquette Coach Crean and IU AD "clean house" at IU Hoops
Crean follows IU AD and continues to clean house...as both of them are finally forcing "some" academic standards on the program...which Sampson obviously didn't even care about.
Good article...IU might not be good next year...or even the next 2 years...but their program AND school will be much better for it in the long .
It's obvious why IU AD and Crean have been on the same page since Day 1.
Big losses? Sure, but they're good losses

RE: OT: Former Marquette Coach Crean and IU AD "clean house" at IU Hoops
I'm not ready to sing Indiana's praises. What they call "cleaning house" I call looking for a reason to force players out so the new coach can bring his players in without the backlash of not renewing scholarships. You can't tell me that the AD is just now finding out about this players. There's a very good chance that these players had bad academics, I'm just skeptical of everything that involves situations like this. I have to say though, the NCAA is a major part of the problem as well. If a coach finds out that a player is doing bad academically he and the program gets punished if they dismiss the kid. But if they keep the kid and try to help him academically he knows that the coach can't do anything with him, outside of cut his minutes, or the coach is screwed, whether with the APR or the Won/Loss record.
