I root for the Seattle Seahawks.

New York Jets. I don't like pain, but I can't help it. Had season tickets.

Memphis was passed over in 1976 in favor of the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Memphis was in the running with St. Louis, Baltimore, Jacksonville, and Charlotte in the 1990s. Jacksonville and Carolina were awarded franchises. The Browns moved to Baltimore and changed their name to the Ravens. The Rams moved from LA to St. Louis.

Two years after Jacksonville and Carolina were awarded franchises, Bud Adams decided to move the Oilers to Nashville. They couldn't play right away because they had not built a stadium, so they played in Memphis for two years. No one wanted to support a lame duck team, especially considering the 20+ year struggle to obtain a franchise of our own only to see our hated neighbors in Nashville get one without even trying.

F the Nashville Titans. I will always pull for their opponent when they play. I rank them right there with the Vols on teams I hate the most.

wow people really hate them, but they are the state capital...seems they should get the first bid, it seems memphis may have not tried hard enough but idk, Nashville must have seemed like a better choice when money comes into play, but would have been nice to have them here....

RE: NTR: WTF??? CHRIS JOHNSON
Don't forget how the State of TN ponied up the money to help make the Oilers move happen (stadium funding). Memphis never got that same consideration when we tried to land a team well before Nashville was ever in the mix for a team. If the Titans never again won a single game, I would not shed a tear.

I still have trouble caring about the NFL in general due to the screwjobs Memphis received from the League, State, & Bud Adams in the 90's. If it wasn't for former Tiger players, fantasy football, and the fact that the only other thing on Sunday afternoon TV is a bunch of cars turning left, I wouldn't care at all.

The biggest reason I support the NBA is that they brought back my faith in professional sports with the Grizzlies move. Outside of the Grizzlies, the greatest moment in Memphis pro sports history to me is when 40,000 or so local Steeler fans showed up to boo the Oilers at the Liberty Bowl in the last "home" game of that lame duck season.

Exactly my point. TOGC is a perfect example of what I am talking about. I feel your pain TOGC, I really do...

Lots of people don't know about the hoops Memphis has jumped through to get a part in the NFLs circus...only to be dumped on...by the NFL..in favor of Nashville....

Back to the Chris Johnson pick. I recall the Bears selecting a fast guy that didn't have a definitive position a few years ago. I believe his name was Devin Hester. I may be wrong, but I believe Hester was picked in the 3rd round. Teams have seen how a player like Hester can be a very dangerous weapon, and I think the Titans picked Johnson off of his Devin Hester like ability.

Dexter Jackson and DeSean Jackson both had just as much Devin Hester ability if not more and both were taken in the late 2nd round. He was picked way too early. He may join the Hall of Fame one day, but he was still taken too early because he would have likely still been there for their 2nd pick.

I don't see the Titans using him as a Devin Hester at all though. He seems to be a one-two punch with White. Kind of like what Carolina did....

Assuming that is their plan it shouldn't be all that difficult. Matt Jones was a quarterback and he converted quite well.

Matt Jones is a better QB than the one they have starting.

He's 5'11" and 197 and runs a 4.24 40. No way he will play running back in the NFL. The Titans will make him into a WR/KR/PR.

He's not much lighter than LT was when drafted out of TCU, and LT isn't a 4.2 guy. With that kind of speed, Johnson will play. Especially with a QB like Vince Young who can spread the field and freeze the linebackers with the threat to run.

So, you draft a guy in the first to play with a speed qb? The same QB that you want to stay in the pocket and pound the ball off tackle with your fat RB?

Go Ravens.

They think they needed some speed to spread people out on defense. With White in the backfield everyone can pack in and force Vince to throw. At least with Johnson they have to worry about his speed as a pass catcher and a running back. Don't forget about Just McCareins being back and they added Alge Crumpler. Williams has lost weight and gained some work ethic also. They are trying to open the field up for Vince to run more. IMO, its both a good and bad thing. Good because he is very effective when he can run, bad because its shows their lack of faith in his throwing abilities.

Both of those guys are smaller and slower than Chris Johnson. The Titans feel that Johnson is a bigger threat than these guys and that both of them wouldn't have helped Vince Young as much as a threatening running game. I think it came down to this: 1. Do you help Vince Young with a young talented receiver or 2. Make your running game so good that teams stack the box to stop the run thus giving the current receivers an easier time getting open.

I don't think that one talented receiver would have done much for the Titans this year. If the Titans already had a stud at receiver, a rookie receiver would have been a good pick up because he wouldn't have to be the focal point of the passing game this year.

RE: NTR: WTF??? CHRIS JOHNSON
I orginally thought that the Titans should have drafted a WR in the first round. But I do somewhat like the idea that the Titans drafted a guy who is a possible game breaker with his speed at the running back position. The Titans opened up so many good holes for White and Brown last year, but they are so slow that they didn't make the defense really pay for it. Johnson was the fastest guy in the entire combine at any position. Plus, Johnson can catch the ball out of the backfield as well.

It would have been very nice to have gotten Sweed in the 2nd round out of Texas, but the Steelers drafted him one pick before the Titans.
