breakdown of our 2008 recruits
Ladaris Green- 6'9 post. This kid is tall with long arms. Was recruited pretty hard out of high school by Virgina and Florida State. Did not qualify out of high school and a lot of schools lost interest. He can be one of the most dominant big men to play in the A-SUN. He is very skilled on the defensive end, needs to be more aggresive on the offensive side of the ball. This is a big need for all school and we are going to have him for 4 years. Looks a lot like Kevin Garnett with his size and build.(Does not play like Garnett)

Markeith Cummings- will be the best athlete in the A-SUN. Played at the same high school as Ladaris. He is tall and athletic, can play the 2, 3 or 4. Can get to the rim and finish with his head at the rim. Wasn't recruited real hard out of high school because most schools thought he was going to play football (6'7 QB with speed). Had some SEC schools recruiting him for football. Went to prep school with Ladaris and became a big time recruit. He had Louisville, Oklahoma State and others looking at him but signed early with the Owls. He can shoot the 3 but needs to improve in that area.

Kurtis Woods - big time scorer. He can put 20-30 points up before you know it. Has good size at 6'4, he can flat out shoot it and get to the rim. Needs to work on shot selection. Might end up being one of the best guards to play at KSU.

Matt Heramb - big kid at 6'9 235. Can play inside or out. Very good foot work. Likes to shoot the 3. I hope he can come in the 2009-2010 season and be a force in the post on both ends of the floor. Out of high school was a big time recruit with offers from Auburn, Colorado and others. Will have to sit out this year but will be big for us in the 2009-2010 the first year we can compete for the tourney.

Spencer Dixon - good athlete, will be ask to play the point. Can shoot the 3 and get to the hole. Not a true point guard but will compete for playing time as a freshman.

Brandon Chambers - 6'1 guard, Can play the point or 2. Reminds you of (James Florence from Mercer) but not as explosive. Has a good build and is strong with the ball.

Things are really looking up with this recruiting class. I think Ingle did an incredible job and he still has one scholarship left. The best thing about this class is they will all be here for 4 years. We might struggle at the begining of the year but by conference we should be ready to go.

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
Nathaniel Butler - He is a 6'5 -6'6 shooter. He can flat out fill it up from deep. With his size he can get it over pretty much anyone who guards him. I am not sure how good he is off the dribble. Has a good build but needs to be stronger. Reminds you a little of Ronell with how good he can shoot it. He is not the athlete that Ronell is. Remeber when Ronell came to KSU he was an undersized post player and he develop his jumper under the KSU coaching staff. I hope we keep developing this recruiting class for the next 4 years.

From what I heard from an inside source that all of these kids are signed. Hopefully KSU website will have something about the recruits soon. But I can count on this source pretty well.

I am not sure his name but we signed a 6'5 shooting guard who came on a visit a few weeks ago. I believe it is Butler.

Wow...Butler would be huge. Read some great things on him. I like how Chambers can play the one or the two, Cummings can play the 2, 3, or 4, and Butler can play the 2 or 3. Lots of tools for Ingle to play with if this holds true. I'm sure it will take some time for this young talent to gel, but it should be fun to watch.

Green is going to be awesome...and he will have no one to blame but himself if he isnt. He is a great defender. I've seen him play and the man has excellent timing on his shot blocking. i cant wait for that ball to be swatted into the 8th row at the Convocation Center.

Trust me guys, believe me when I say that I have a lot INVESTED in this program, but you guys are killing me with this 4 year stuff. Let's wake up.

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
I think we will start to see remarked improvement very soon GoFlyWin - We are entering our final year of the grace period which is a big mile stone, and you can see the kind of recruiting success that the coaching staff is having. Coach Ingle was able to bring in recruits to Kennesaw during the DII years that no one thought would be possible, and he is starting to do the same thing in Division I. Our team will start to gel much sooner than 4 years. I think that if our post players can hold up next year then we will finally have enough to compete for the ASun title. I don't know if we will have enough to win it all, but the mere fact that we aren't even out of the grace period, and could have a chance to compete for the league title is amazing.

What is fun is that more new people are joining the "Owl's Nest" message board, and supporting the team. I don't know if you were around for the national championship year in 02, but we had to turn people away at the gym door due to the level of excitement. Be glad that you are in on the ground floor of the Division I Kennesaw Owls. We are only going up from here.

Can not wait to hear the official word on these guys signing. If we landed all of these players we have the strongest class in the ASUN this year. These posts made my day

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
The recruits that can't get the PT they desire may not make it all 4 years, but I'd say there are two or three of these guys that will make an impact early and those guys will be here for the long haul. As long as our recruiting keeps improving it should minimize roster turnover. When guys do leave we should be able to plug in a quality recruit (hopefully these recruits meet this description). Lets be honest, besdies Jacobs who is really going to hurt us by leaving this off season?

Jacobs will hurt pretty good, but you can't blame a kid for being homesick which is what some people have said. Our longterm future in the post is good, but Tanner's presence would have helped next year. JMac and Whipple are both able to give some time in the post if Green and Allison aren't quite ready yet, so that is nice to have that flexibility.

Definitely an exciting time to be an Owl.

I agree. Lets hope JMac and Whipple and continue to improve because we will need a lot from them this year. Their experience will be very important to this extremely young bunch of players.

Good to see your board growing...Despite the often negative stereotypes, I really believe that successful athletic programs bolster that University at large.
My soapboxing aside, it looks like Ingle has done an exceptional job of bringing in good players--the first key to building a solid club. It'll likely be an issue of chemistry and development. That might take time, but it might not either. I always enjoy watching teams like that.

I agree completely. We will be hit or miss early on I'd say because a lot of these recruits have no choice but to play early. Hopefully we can gel by conference time and field a competitive group.

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
Well we have experience at every position except for shooting guard. McConnell will see the majority of minutes at PG atleast to start the season, JMac at SF/PF and Mitchell at PF/C. Other than that I am not sure. I do know two things though...both Cummings and Woods can play from what I have seen. It would not surprise me at all to see us start the year: McConnell, Woods, Cummings, JMac, Mitchell and fill in from there. But you are right...we will have some growing pains early. It looks like Coach Ingle is finally getting the type of players that fit his system...long athletic and bouncy.

Also you have to look at Green, Cummings, and Woods are prep school kids. They are a year older and a year more experience than high school kids. It is almost like they were redshirted last year.

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
I somewhat agree ksubbfan, but there is a HUGE difference between prep school and division I basketball as far as practices, academics, time schedules, etc... All freshman go through a big adjustment period at some point in their first year of school...often it can effect their play on the court...sometimes they get through it quickly and early which is what you want.

RE: breakdown of our 2008 recruits
Theres no question we should be seeing freshman everywhere. In the starting lineup and off the bench. That worries me but at the same time it could be a great thing. Look what McConnell and Jacobs did last year. Not superstars but very quality kids. The ASUN is no stranger to having freshman come in and make huge impacts: Florence, Rodriguez, etc. I simply hope that we will be more athletic. Last year I really thought we would run the court better than what we did. I agree with your starting lineup unless Butler did commit. If Butler committed I think he pushes hard to start from day 1.
