(NEW) Tugs Tournament Update
I've been told the location has changed again - this time to the West Lagoon next to Stevenson Towers North. Can other people confirm this?

I understand there was a mis-communication with Recreation Services and the Intramural fields will not be available. Thus the West Lagoon location. I actually like this location better because the tournament will be visible for residents of Stevenson and Grant. I hope they see all the commotion of hundreds of people, noise, music, food vendors etc and come out to watch.

Bus service will still shuttle teams to the location 30 minutes before each match. Bus shuttle will take spectators from the Campus Cinemas parking lot to the West Lagoon. Please add any additional information here.

Is that comment really necessary? How come whenever there is a thread regarding fraternities or tugs or whatever, why is it that you feel like you have to make comments like these? I'm personally not a big fan of frats and what they do, my brother was in one at U of I, but you don't see me bashing every thread regarding fraternities time after time. If you have nothing nice to say or something to contribute to threads regarding this subject, then keep your mouth shut.

because its a discussion board. The comment was truthful. there will not be loads of dorm rats streaming out of stevenson to watch tugs. So no, I won't stop, I've said nothing offensive in the above comment.

Trolling- Trolling is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. When done in a moderated internet community, this can result in banning.

I've been here a long time, if I was a troll I would have been kicked long ago.

RE: (NEW) Tugs Tournament Update
Calvin,

Here is a quote from you on the other tugs thread...

"1. I wouldn't waste the gas to go watch guys pull their ropes.
2. Even if I was in Dekalb I wouldn't waste my time watching guys tug their ropes.
Imagine how much more money would be donated if all the frats saved all the money they spend on parties, booze, pot, and date rape drugs and donated all of that each year. Would dwarf whats raised by these events."

That is a perfect example of trolling and flaming. Don't act arrogant and think you aren't a troll. There are people on this board who are not fans of fraternities who are siding with me.

no its not trolling, both statements are true, I wouldnt waste my gas to go there, and how much money do frats spend on their parties? Is that not money that could be donated since you claim its all about doing charity work.

most frat parties make money if they are open to the public. I recall hearing about parties charging 15+.

These are social organizations. When did I claim "it's ALL about doing charity work?" Perhaps you can find the quote for me...

wonder if they have a liquor license? Its not a matter of them making money on the parties. There was a statement made about all the money that frats make for charity from their events. The money they spend and/or earn on the parties is not going to charity.

3 things
1. the quote you have put up form me wasn't a troll considering it was in direct response to your question to me if I would come out to tugs. I answered your question. Had I just answered no, the next logical question would have been "why not"? I chose to answer both questions at once.

2. you did not say it was all about charity but you did mention in the other tug thread that "yea all that money that goes to charity makes it a real losers bracket" trying to show that its a wonderful charity organization.

3. You just mentioned that its not all about charity and it is a social organization how social must the organization be when things like this spew from its members:
"Do you ever attend any home football games? I should do a little networking to see if I can find you and see what kind of a man you are. I'm guessing human garbage. I'm also guessing you would not speak that way to me in person if you knew what was good for you".

Now thats an inviting social atmosphere!

RE: (NEW) Tugs Tournament Update
I think all the matches on Saturday will be good matches.

Sigma Nu vs. Sigma Pi @ 3pm

TKE vs. SAE @ 4:30pm

Phi Sig vs. Pike @ 6pm

There has been a DJ out there and food vendor (Bacci's) selling pizza & pop. The location is a huge improvement over doing it in Sig Eps parking lot. The west lagoon looks like a golf course - it is very picturesque. I would invite anyone (alumni, non-Greek undergrads etc.) to go check out a match or two. It is a 40+ year NIU tradition. It is the most exciting event at NIU next to Huskie football.
