Youre correct, but alot of people unfamiliar with marching band wouldnt have a clue what that is. The common person typically refers to them as tubas, but yes... they are technically sousaphones.
I hate those "common" people.

For marching band purposes, they're interchangeable--however, technically, you are right.

I'll go ahead and predict that JSU's band will embarass ours badly. Their program has been around for 40 years long than ours.

it would make more sense for people to call them helicons than tubas.
