You know what is really funny? The fact that RR was in the upper teens in last years poll. Now that he's with Michigan, he's the #3 coach in all of college football? LMFAO What a joke! 01-wingedeagle

And that's after he had his agent talking to another school when he should have had his mind on beating Pitt so the Mountaineers could play for all the marbles. He bailed on his players, his alma mater, and his reputation. He folded on the big stage in his last game at WVU.

That gets him that big jump? 03-banghead

It's like Josh Jenkins' rating dropping 50 places after signing with West Virginia. I wonder where he'd have ended up if he'd have picked someone else?

Miami Randy at 66. I know that's really got to piss him off. With the class UM has coming in this year, (some say it in number one) if they don't produce, it's going to get ugly.

Almost as bad is Pitt at 52. ALso got a good class coming in.

Yeah, I don’t get all these talking heads thinking Shannon’s a no-brainer to succeed. He did rake it in on the recruiting trail, but it’ll be two years easy before he sees results there.

As much as he pisses UL fans off, I don’t get Petrino in the middle of the pack either. He really took that program to another level.

Until he proves otherwise, Grob is too high at 58. Wanny's about right, until he proves he can win with the talent. And Edsall seems kind of high, considering only one good season.

Can’t complain too much about where the other BE coaches are, although I’m sure USF fans wonder why Leavitt’s fifth in the league.

They’re about right with Stewart – unproven, but it doesn’t mean he won’t win. Just not enough data yet. I wish him the best, though. One thing: he needs to start acting like he’s been there before. I’m referring to his jumping up and down, all excited like he’s a high school coach, every time WVU scored vs. OU. I don’t think that demeanor will play over the duration.

RE: Sporting News Ranking BCS coaches
Stewart may be unproven. But he came into a no-win situation that nobody in the nation would have taken, and not only did he win, but he dominated. Next, look at the assistant coaches he hired. All are winners, and many are either former head coaches, or have been considered for head coaching positions. Doc Holliday was a potential candidate at WVU before Stewart so impressed us all.

I think everyone is selling him short based on something that happened over 30 years ago. How many of us are the same person we were 30 years ago? He's also in a better situation at WVU than he was at VMI. A military academy, especially a minor one, is a no-win job. A major BCS-evel school, like West Virginia, is far different. He'll do well for the Mountaineers, and I don't think they'll skip a beat. He may even do something Rodriguez couldn't - get WVU a BCS Championship game berth.

The fact that he can bring anyone with an ounce of talent to Lubbock, Texas is truly a feat

What Mike Leach has done at Texas Tech is amazing

You got a point there. There's absolutely nothing to do in Lubbock.

I agree, Petrino is a hell of a coach and if Michigan had any brains they would have gone after him even if he is a little flaky.
