Byrd signs 5-year extension
There has been wondering of how long Coach Byrd would keep coaching (I believe he's entering his 23rd year at Belmont). I have heard it rumored that Coach Casey Alexander was being groomed as his sucessor.

Well, Byrd just signed a 5-year contract extension. These days that doesn't mean as much as it used to as other large schools could easily buy that out, and it is customary to have a contract for a longer term than your upcoming batch of recruits.

Still, good news for Belmont. I hope they gave his assistants nice bumps too. They've been together a long time, and that continuity is great.
