T-Shirt companies do that by design. They probably had one with Xavier and Texas on it just in case. I read where some organiztion just donated their Patriots 2008 NFL Champs hats to a third world country. Heck I have a UL 1989 National Champions sweater at home (that was Pervis Ellisons senior year).

I don't understand what the big deal is, everyone does that so they can be the first to sell something. There were World Champion New York Knicks shirts made in 1994. And there were even newspapers made for various teams over the years for championships they didn't win.
