The NIT is just as irrelevant so it might as well be thrown in the garbage too. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the tourney. You have 320+ Div I basketball programs so 98 teams playing in postseason tourneys means only about 20% of that 320+ plus are participating.

Unlike college football where half of the 120 Div I programs gets into postseason play which is absolutely ridiculous.

any enity, that makes 10 million dollars is not irrelevant. another 10 million in made in communities that hosted games is not irrelevant.
