MACC Center Renovations?
I've seen some posts about upcoming renovations. Any specifics?

One thing I'd like to see are more people in it.

RE: MACC Center Renovations?
Specifics as they've been announced;

* Lower section to be "bowled" with using all chairback (theatre style)
seats (no bleachers). This will reduce seating capacity to about
5,500
- Entrance to the lower "bowl" will be from above (pretty much like
Akrons JAR)
- North end will have solid wall seperating current gymnastics room
from main arena (current wall is a partition type wall)

* nothing much planned for upper level Gen Admiss seating

* Lodge on South end will be split up into 4-5 smaller lodges that will
be rented / leased.

That's pretty much it.

Was there a plan to move the partition/future solid wall back to make the gym bigger?

I've asked some Athletic Dept employees this question. From looking at the current North stands, it appears the wall would have to be moved further North to allow for the "bowl" to be formed. No one really knows as no architecural drawings have been made as of yet. The Athletic Dept can't pay for drawings until the renovation project is officially approved by the University. The are working on getting that done now (project approved that is).

Any ideas as to where the student section will be? Eventhough I won't be a student next year. 02-13-banana Just wondering because we do have some students that really get into the opposition's head.

The students will still be sitting down low at both ends. The seat isle's will likely block off their seating areas.

Ugh. I for one hate the Akron's design where you have to go upstairs to go downstairs. The loge sounds like a good idea, mainly because it can add money to the program. The bowl is a good idea, but the problem is getting the butts in the seats.
