- I'll bet when Nick Dials woke up this morning and looked in the mirror he saw Mincy standing right behind him. In the past 7 days Mincy completely took him out of his game. I love Mincy's intensity.

- I dont think we've ever seen or possibly ever will see a more athletic pair than than Q and Scott. Its been awesome to watch and will be very hard to replace them

- After scratching our head all year about Rashard Woods he delivers in clutch time. He's starting to get it! Look out for next year.

- I hope JC and crew had about 3-4 potential 6-7 through 6-9 junior college players watching thinking hmm there appears to be some playing time options in the post next year!

Some of my random thoughts...

I think the Akron fans were dressed like empty chairs.

Every time I see Lebron, I smell his arrogance stronger.

The Q Arena seriously needs a lesson in customer service. The part about not storming the court is annoying, but there is a lot of liability involved there. But overall I always thought their staff is incredibly rude.

Fea the oo!

Interpetive dance is not reccomended for a halftime show. Mascot
b-ball is.

Q and Singletary showed real class in this game when Akron was playing like they were on a street court.

The seniors ARE this team's leaders. Man, did they step up.

KENT STATE = MAC CHAMPS
akron = mac chumps

P.S. Anyone want to see some funny stuff, go over to zipsnation.

RE: Random thoughts
Much of what I saw on Zipsnation is typical of what one would see from a typical disappointed fan, but some of it is just plain stupid. At least one poster wants Kent to get slaughtered right off in the tournament. Clearly he doesn't realize that the better Kent does, the better it is for the entire conference, Akron included. Another congratulated Kent's success, but implied that they do it by just barely staying within the rules (!). Kent's success over the last ten years is testament to the quality of the head coaches and their staffs. It's that simple. Any MAC school could do what Kent did by getting the right head coaches (admittedly, there is some luck involved, too). It would be just as stupid for Kent to be envious of MAC schools that have been much better than Kent in football over the last 10 years. The point is, don't attack and criticize - try to emualte those that succeed. I think Dambrot is of that mind. He's never given Kent any "shots", just praise.

This Zipsnation poster wins my prize, though. We are both rednecks AND hippies??? Lord, have mercy!

I agree, it is my experience in only a few months with UA that Can't fans are pretty redneck. Maybe they will secede from NE ohio and go down the road to West Virginia. Ok that's probably not going to happen. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed when they booed during the Army's ceremony. Best I could tell though, they booed when they mentioned the President. What a bunch of hippies.
Did anyone else find it interesting too that while Akron's following stayed somewhat consistent throughout the entire tournament the Can't fans, while there were plenty on Friday night, really only turned out for Saturday's game? They are just a bunch of fair weather fans who decided to put their hash pipes and bongs down one saturday to come to cleveland.
I did appreciate some of the Akron fans retaliation in the parking lot "One and Done, One and Done, One and Done" Pretty clever.

RE: Random thoughts
The thing that bothered me was during and after the kent dance team was doing their nationally ranked dance the crakron fans booing the girls for no reason. Honestly Im not sure why they had them do the routine during the game but either way how do you boo a group that has nothing to do with the outcome of the game. They sure got loud and happy when their strip team came out and Im sure if they were at their night jobs "paying for college" they would have started to take it all off.

Other then that I didnt like how they just threw everyone into seats and not divide the arena up. That just didnt make any sense to me...

Takes some real intellectuals to come up with that. We just smoked their team for the trifecta but to spite us they'll say we'll lose in the tournament game they haven't gotten to in their lifetimes.

Ilove gymnastics,

Where does the Akron team work at night I'd like to see a few? Seriously after watching 12 games over the week the words here's the (name a school) dance team, cheerleaders and band I was ready to boo them all too. It just gets old. 1 performance per half would be much better.

Folks, you just can't worry about people who wallow in bitterness and hate. They will be who they are, and they are irrelevant to us. There's a reason they are regarded around the league as the chippiest, dirtiest, most obnoxious team in the conference, and our program is held in the highest respect. While it was to the conference's benefit to get 2 teams in, I heard from a number of fans of other schools (BSU, OU, MU, BG, WMU, UT) who were rooting for us because they just didn't want them to represent our conference.
Enjoy our time! We have a great program with quality people who do things the right way. On to the Tourney!

UNLV in Omaha! Bring 'em on!!

RE: Random thoughts
Burden, I know what you mean. There is too much of a sameness to all the bands, cheerleaders and dance teams. To paraphrase Spiro Agnew, "if you've seen one cheerleader, you've seen them all." And let me go on record as saying I hate the official times-out every four minutes. It really slows down the games and gives a certain sameness to them all, too. And also, the shot clock and three point shot has markedly reduced the differences in styles of play among teams. I noted several years ago that, though I still enjoy them, the games no longer stick out as much as they once did, and they all kind of blur together. But, perhaps I'm just old and weary. In fact, I concede that I'm just old and weary.

Hey Burden,

Most likely the Platinum horse or one of the 5 million down by the mall. But give me a week or two and I'll let you know which one for sure. I'm willing to take one for the team and visit these establishments on multiple nights just to make sure I dont miss them.

I wouldn't worry about any team with a trashy player like Nick Dials on their team calling anyone else low class.

RE: Random thoughts
Thank you for this thread. I have read it several times over the last week and it still makes me smile. The mental picture of a bleary-eyed Nick Dials yawning and looking in the bathroom mirror only to see Jordan Mincy smiling over his shoulder in the mirror is great. Also really liked the bit about Akron fans being dressed as empty chairs. I watched the Akron/ UMass game today and after the Zips puked it away, I watched last Saturday's MAC championship game again. It has been a l-o-n-g week. KSU basketball is over for another year. Now Spring can come and baseball can begin in earnest. I am sure I will check in occaisionally, but I will not be pasted to the boards like I have been for the last several months. Keep safe all! Football starts in 5 months and the basketball open practice/ meet the team is in about 7 months.
