OT - ACC Tournament
It's amazing how things change. The ACC Tournament used to be almost as exciting as Christmas when I was a kid...we're talking 70s-early 80s. School teachers would sneak TVs into classrooms so we could watch the games. Now, it means absolutely nothing to me.

Things that have ruined following the ACC (at least for me)....

1. It went "south" when they added Ga Tech. I liked it with the 7 (Tobacco Road, UVa, UMd, and Clemson). Definitely can't get interested in BC and Fla State, now.

2. Cable/ESPN - Access to sports all the time has diminished how special watching games used to be. There used to be one game on a weeknight and a couple during the weekend. That was it. (Of course, we only had 4-5 stations to watch back then, too!)

3. No more Packer & Thacker.

4. No more "Sail with the Pilot". No more Speedy McGreedy and the Hamburgler.

5. NCAA tournament field expanded to 32, then 64. ACC teams aren't required to win the tourney to get to the NCAAs. Today's one-bid leagues' tournaments are much better.

Thoughts?

RE: OT - ACC Tournament
I am a purist and I believe a conference tournament champion and the conference regular season champions should be the only teams to advance to the NCAA Tourney. (if those two are the same team then tourney runner up goes). That way the road to the final 4 begins on the first day of EVERY conference tourney. To the B$C$S boys, man up, if you can't win your conference you don't deserve to be playing for a national championship.

Of course I am a dreamer :)
