Does anyone know anything about BYU attempting to join the PAC-10 a few years ago?

Nope. But if you keep posting, eventually the rumor will catch on.

There has always been talk about BYU joining the Pac-10. That has been a rumor for a long time. I have talked to BYU fans who really think it is possible. Also I have talket to U of U fans who believe the same thing. This is just silly and I have often wondered what Pac-10 fans think of this. I have even heard a few of my own UNLV fans batting arround this idea that the Pac-10 would expand and take us. Personally I don't think it's very likely that they will ever expand but i gaurentee that every MWC school wants to be invited.

That will never happen. I will guarantee it. BYU doesn't play on sundays. That's why.

Actually, BYU was nearly included in the original Big 12 before last minute Texas politics came into play and then Gov. Ann Richards managed to secure an invite for her alma mater Baylor instead. This was documented in the Texas and Utah print media at the time. As far as the PAC-10, it takes a unanimous vote to expand. Rumor has it that a vote was taken on inviting Utah a few years ago but they failed to garner sufficient support. I don't know if BYU was ever considered.
BYU/UU would be a logical fit if the PAC-10 wanted to become the PAC-12 but politics will likely prevent the state of Utah from ever being affiliated in a conference with PAC-10 schools.

If BYU or even Utah goes anywhere it might be to the Big 10. I can't see them putting up with Baylor for too much longer. They may pull a "Temple" on them. Furthermore with Penn State's woes, they may even go back to the Big East.
The Pac-10 will not expand unless Colorado and Texas accepts. No way, they see it as a step down.

Whatever. They're likely history where they sit.
