RE: "official watch the Oscars thread"
I haven't seen anybody mention There Will Be Blood. That movie was fantastic. If Daniel Day Lewis doesn't win Best Actor, I will be supremely disappointed.

I also liked No Country For Old Men a lot too. Josh Brolin didn't get nominated for Best Actor, so there's no conflict of interest there...

I thought Juno sucked. The whole time I was watching it, it just seemed like some screenwriters and a director got together and said, "Hey, let's make a movie to get nominated for some awards! It can be one based on this teenage girl who has intellectual conversations and likes interacting with people that are older than she is, (after all, the Academy loves that stuff!), and then we can add in some social commentary by manufacturing a subplot about dealing with teenage pregnancy. Then we're sprinkle in a couple of big name stars for good measure, but not too many so that it won't look completely "Hollywood"... Hello Kodak Theatre!" 03-puke

I really liked "Blood". Daniel Day Lewis carried the whole thing, what an actor!
The last scene, (on the bowling lane) confused me. I would have rather seen a different ending.

Wow, Nicole Kidman is really starting to look her age. I'm kind-of sad...

BEST ACTRESS
Marion Cotillard, "La Vie en Rose"

Has anyone seen this? I must admit to having never heard of either.

You'd think that after more than three hours and 15 minutes the Academy could have figured out a way to settle on a clear-cut champion of the 2008 Oscars. But, nooooo. Tonight, the Academy chose to spread the wealth. Sure, No Country for Old Men led the way with four wins — for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor. And, sure, writer/ director/ producers/ brothers Joel and Ethan Coen each took home three trophies. But each Best Picture nominee (No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Juno, Atonement, and Michael Clayton) scored at least one prize, and the evening's second-highest total, three Oscars, was bestowed upon none other than the summer action flick The Bourne Ultimatum (for Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing). Go figure. Below, the complete list of winners at the 80th Academy Awards.

The last two Sundays I went and saw Juno and No Country For Old Men. I thought both were pretty good. Javier Bardem is scary as **** in No Country For Old Men.
