RE: Somebody on UL Rivals board is saying UL to play Memphis in FB
The Liberty will follow MEMPHIS wherever it goes. That won't change unless the whole board changes. That is just FACT. Would be nice to play in the damn thing though.

The Liberty Bowl was REALLY close to switching from C-USA to Big East, but decided not to. Despite Memphis never playing in the bowl game, but the Liberty Bowl has been a friend to Memphis and
C-USA. If Memphis ever left C-USA then it's almost a 100% guarantee that the LB would drop the C-USA tie-in.
I know!!
We are back to this again. If I say it enough it will become true. There is nobody who has any proof or can show any logic that the "Liberty" ALMOST went to the Big East. Even before the SEC tie in the Liberty has always done very well and it is ridiculous to think that adding the 3rd or 4th place team from the Big East, who has to share their #2 Bowl spot, would add some additional credibility to a already very good Bowl who was one of the highest ranked non-BCS bowls of the year.
You should probably secure your #2 Bowl spot before you start trying to convince people of the illusion that you are going to be taking Bowl spots from anyone else.
Just to state some numbers the Liberty Bowl had 3.9 million households compared to the Sun Bowls 2.5 million. The Liberty Bowl had a low level MS St. team and a C-USA team and was on ESPN. The Sun Bowl had 2 BCS teams (Big East #2) and was on a network. CBS.
The Liberty Bowl had higher ratings than any of the Big East Bowls except the BCS. A LOT HIGHER!!!
I understand peoples agendas but everyone needs to use some common sense. The Liberty Bowl is not going to give up 1.5 million households just so they can say they have the Big East. That is just simple business folks.
Bowl ratings
I'm guessing that a Memphis fan would know a LITTLE more about the situation then you. Besides, I remember when that was going down, and it was so close to being Big East vs SEC in the Liberty Bowl that some outlets even announced it. But Memphis stepped in. They had to, to protect themselves. The University of Memphis has all the stroke when it comes to the Liberty Bowl. Not the SEC, not C-USA and not the Big East.
I've got to disagree a little bit here even though you're on my side. The Liberty Bowl's #1 priority right now is the SEC tie in. However, the LB WOULD drop C-USA in a New York minute if Memphis left the league.

I'm happy for Memphis, but why would the return game be scheduled for 2010 or 2012 if either school thought Memphis was joining the Big East in football. By the way, the only negative with Memphis joining the Big East is geography, but in every other way I think Memphis makes the most sense to become a future member of the Big East.

Really? I guess that kind of make sense. But I see we're on the same wavelength as far as the LB following Memphis wherever they went, especially if it's a BCS conference. It would be the C-USA side that would be hurt not the SEC side though.

Because the Big East television deal expires in 2013 and if there were a split that is when it would happen.

So 2013 is the magic date. I thought 2010 was the magic date. You would think that if the Big East was going to split on 2013 then they would take a football only school for scheduling purposes until 2013. I think CUSA would have a hard time telling the #1 basketball school in the nation to hit the bricks if it took a football only slot in the Big East.
