well, if we cant compete in our conference for recruits, then surely we can outrecruit MTSU, but then they look to have inked a better class as well.... I hate to be negative, but I havent seen a whole lot of talent on the field over the past few years, and the prior classes look a lot like this one.

Their class looks no better other than Jones at 4*. The only difference is they signed more which we can't. Stop looking for reasons to complain until this class gives you reason to on the field.

Odom was a rivals top 100, Rdavis was a four* WR, and the 5* Miami TE transfer dont get listed in our class, but they used scholies for this class. With the the mix of jucos, local talent and these transfers, i think we upgraded our talent level significantly.

The Miami TE will play one year. Hall will take half a season to get used to things, then may have a chance at having one good season, then we start over at QB, except we didn't sign one this year. By the time Hall is done, Malouf will be a senior and Walker will be a junior.

Here's my take on this year's recruiting, fwiw (and it probably not worth much!). Virtually ALL recruiting classes have no immediate impact, if they did then that doesn't speak too much about the talent that is currently there. I give TW 2 years to win the C-USA East title...and I THINK EVEN TW KNOWS IT.

When 9 out of 19 are either juco or transfers that tells me that TW knows it time NOW or never. That's got to be a record for TW in terms of the percentage of the class that is either a transfer or a juco.

We'll see sooner than most since there are so many jucos and transfers that they'll be seeing playing time very quickly.

Hall intrigues me the most. I just didn't Maloof had much lateral quickness, good straight ahead speed, but not lateral quickness. If Hall struggles, then we are in for a long season like 2 years ago.

as for the national rankings, something to consider with scout. They have a lot of our players listed as one star players (7 to be exact)

if you go back and look at the 2004 class, they never adjusted anything, and it still shows us with 13 of 22 players only being one star. among them: Rod Smith, CRob, EWill, Mo Jones, Brent Russell, Pearce, Beliles, Ryan Williams, Rubio Phillips (JC)

This year the list of one star signees includes Rucker, who is 3 star on rivals.

Anyone who is excited about this recruiting class is living in a fantasy world.

I agree about Scout. I've talked about the differences before. But Scout also rated a couple of our guys 4 stars with Rivals a 3 and we loved it then!

Look at Rivals for 2004. All of those guys were two stars. Earnest Williams was rated 5.4 which almost a 3 star and Ryan was a 5.3. Besides the development of our WR which I think every says/agrees we do a good job with as well as they benefiting from the system, can you really say the others have excelled? I don't know that I would call any of our lineman dominant. Didn't another one have to sit out as a partial Q.

Two stars according to rivals says they can play at the D-1 level but are not among the better players in the country. I think that describes most of our guys. Good kids. Blue collar workers. Often overachievers or late bloomers.
