Walter Payton went to Jackson St. Would you have taken him?

Some guys get missed. Hopefully this is one of them. I know nothing about this guy, just reporting what I saw.

totally agree - but, on the flip side of the coin, it does seem like we do this song and dance every year - or at least the past few seasons - with a good number of the players in each recruiting class...

Yeah, if we keep saying we are finding a diamond in the rough with every recruit we get, then sooner or later we will get one. Some people will pick Memphis to lose every game, and sooner or later they will be right. Being right 1 out of 50 times kind of sucks though....

I think every class we've signed since I've followed Memphis football has some of those in it and I've been following since the 70's. We've taken some that not many wanted like Mike McKenzie and Danton Barto and they turned out real good. We've taken many that were busts, it happens, but I'm not gonna crap on a guy before I see him play.

I understand - he has good size and a willingness to play other positions - hopefully DL is one of those, but that is just my wishful thinking...it just raises red flags when you see recruits list the prime schools as Memphis and Jackson State...

You are looking at this one player at a time. Nobody wants to cast dispersions on a kid just because he is not highly rated.

Many of us are concerned that our entire recruiting philosophy is recruiting kids in hopes of finding that diamond in the rough. Our saving grace is that we get a lot of transfers.

Question....I know Southern MS haas a richer histroy in football and are closer to more recruitable kids. But they loose a coach after a couple of lackluster seasons. Take a look at their recruiting class this year. My estimation is that it is the best class of any CUSA team ever. Well maybe not preCUSA SMU when money was no issue.

Ask why and how. Then ask why not us!

We started out with some quality recruits. We should all reserve judgement until announcements Wednesday night.

Put him on the D-side of the ball. 4.85 is pretty fast for a 275# lineman. That speed cannot be wasted.

that is good speed for a pulling tackle or guard.
