HaHa...Wesley Snipes found NOT GUILTY!!!!!
Govt. did a super job of presenting its case...and Snipes is found not guilty on 2 felony charges of "not filing tax returns"!!!

The question is NOW...Will this start a flood of americans following suit?

Wesley Snipes is my new HERO!!!!

No. Most Americans aren't celebrities who can get away with murder. See Robert Blake, O.J. Simpson.

all a celeberity needs is a Jury trial and the funds to hire good lawyers, they'll get off nearly every time.

He still faces up to three years in prison. Down from 16, but he's still not off the hook.

Wanna wager, say, a cool 20 that he sees none?

Not really. I haven't paid any attention to the case. The first time I remember hearing about it was reading the verdict today.

Besides, with my betting luck...

That is 3 years for 3 counts... if its stacked..

And a tax expert on Fox said that if he fiiles the tax returns and pays the tax owed prior to sentencing, then he cant be sent to jail, he can only be fined..

You think it is bad? Try moving up to Connecticut. They make you pay property tax-on your CAR! 04-jawdrop I believe it is based on the bluebook value of the car and the local tax rate. I think there is a max of like $300-$400. My little 2002 Hyundai Elantra is about $150 or so. I believe the taxes go to the local government.

Got a question.. if the IRS is "abolished"... what US government agency will collect the Fair Tax? The IRS is a section of the Treasury Department.

The checks will still be made out to "US Department of the Treasury"

Also, can you imagine the number of people who would be out of a job? Many of you think cutting the Federal Government to bare bones is great because it allows us to pay less in federal taxes which is good but there are 2 problems 1. the states will just have to pick up on the difference on schools, etc so in the end, your real tax savings will be very little 2. Loss of jobs will be huge. The number of unemployed will skyrocket. While there are some jobs around, even in a good economy it will be difficult for all these people to get a job. If you cut the federal govt to nothing it has to be done over time(ie. it will take more than 4 years to do-probably closer to if not more than 8).

The size of government I envision would operate on user fees, exise taxes and tarrifs....Robbery of the citizens would be unnessary...In addition, the free market would take over almost all the functions of our government currently handles so effficiently.
I understand its hard for statists to understand that concept...Its not taught in government school.

You have to stop looking at this with your current paradigm...There would not be a huge loss of jobs...The free market would take over these functions and without the force of government around businesses will BOOM due to competition...Yes some bureaucrats would have find new careers..but new job creation would handle that....Lets take NASA as an example...We simply allow the current employees to take over it as a business...How hard to think it would be for NASA to raise capital though advertizing and stock offerings?....I assert that the govt. actually holds back NASA and it could do better on its own...The vast majority of government tasks can be taken care of by the free market....and without the use of force.

You do understand that since you are paying property taxes on that vehicle...You dont own it anymore....Because if you fail to pay the taxes..The govt. will come and seize it at the point of a gun...Taxes are immoral and are the single most evil concept ever thought of...Im not a uberreligous person but Jesus forgave the tax collectors...even he understood the evils of taxes.

McDonald's is always hiring... and while it may be a stretch, I’d say 75-80% of the typical Federal Bureaucrats could be possibly retrained to make Big Macs and cook French Fries…

What if McDonalds has to start closing stores because they can't afford to keep them open because those federal workers provided a large portion of income to McDonalds? Also, McDonalds pays about half(or less) of what the person used to be paid which means the person would also cut down on spending for everything else they would normally buy, thus bringing the entire economy down significantly.
