Upstate game thread
Pretty big game, we have a chance to move to .500 in the conference. A win here will give us even more momentum for ETSU.

RE: Upstate game thread
Huge game tonight.. We haven't had a road win all year and this is pretty much a must win for our season.. Anyone think our players may have some tired legs from Tuesday? Stegall played all 40 minutes and our second half lineup never came out..

3 days rest... plenty of time as long as they didn't go out partying last night. That would have more of an impact than 40 mins on Tues.

Winning on the road is always tough. Time for this team to learn how. .500 in conference going into ETSU is a must.

RE: Upstate game thread
ESPN had a gamecast... down by 5 with a minute to go... was up by 15+ at one point in the 2nd half........................................ ARG!!!!
EDIT: wrong score point... need to strike that from the record... musta been the beer. It was more like a 5-6 point lead at half. Frustration probably

RE: Upstate game thread
Got beat....I saw a little of the second half. Looked like Upstate slowed the game down and we couldn't get around their 7'2" center in the paint. We were shooting a lot of jump shots and went cold for a stretch in the second half. Got it back close at the end of the game, but couldn't grab the lead.
Tough beat...from what I saw we didn't play terrible, but didn't play our best. Upstate looked pretty good as well. They will win some more games in conference.

RE: Upstate game thread
yea i caught the last few minutes on the gametracker at ksuowls.com. tough loss for the black and gold especially since we had a 7 point halftime lead. from a quick glance at the boxscore looks like it was wooten, stegall and mcconnell leading the way. the inconsistency of this team is amazing lol, i dont think we are meant to win a game away from the convocation center all season long. to add insult to injury, caught most of the 2nd half of the A-Sun game of the week on CSS. ETSU beat Mercer in a pretty close game. If anyone gets to actually see the game on sunday i will tell you who to watch for, of course courtney pigram, but also kevin tiggs. he had a double-double of 26 pts and 12 reb on the night tonight. it will be a tough battle for the owls, but i think if we play up to our ability we can keep it close, in much the same way we did with mercer (i think mercer is a far superior team to us right now, but feel free to disagree). on a side know to blow your mind a little: the etsu recap of the game on their site said they had over 5100 fans there. theyre killing the conference in attendance numbers. the next closest is belmont i think with something like roughly 2000. the ironic thing is, if you couldve seen the airplane hangar aka their arena, it looked half empty.

RE: Upstate game thread
Upstate has really surprised me this year. They play a style of basketball that's hard-nosed and scrappy. They're extremely well coached and he seems to get maximum effort from his team.
Looking forward to playing you guys. I always enjoy watching Wooten play.

Pretty much sums it up. I agree about the ETSU attendance. They inflate their numbers pretty badly. They couldnt have had more than 3000 in attendance there (which is still a whole heck of a lot better than Kennesaw).
Mercer and ETSU are both much better than us right now, but we have been playing some tough basketball. Even getting beat tonight wasn't a terrible effort, although we can definitely play better. We are going to need to catch ETSU napping to have a real chance at winning. We do have the firepower to keep it close, but to actually win will take a GREAT effort. ETSU looked really good tonight on TV.

I never thought Mercer was that good, especially after seeing Stetson, Belmont and Jacksonville for the first time this season. I had seen Mercer before.

RE: Upstate game thread
I thought Mercer looked pretty good last night. They were just playing a tough ETSU team on the road. If that game is at Mercer, they probably win. Mercer might not win the conference, but they should finish in the top 4.
