UC fans...
Do you think WVU and UC will be able to play home and homes after this yr? We have played them since the new leauge formed and frankly I enjoyed the two games against the Bearcats. From what I remember we were scheduled to play twice again but the UC president conviced the BE office to just play a game in Morgantown. Any chance your president will allow the two games once the newness of the Huggins stuff wears off?

Nancy Zimpher will have zero say over whether or not UC plays a home-and-home. Trust me, Mike Tranghese couldn't care less what UC thinks as evidence in numerous situations. Everyone ASSUMED she had a say in the matter, but I have no doubt that Tranghese had complete say in this. That being said, I don't think so. If Tranghese won't allow UC to play home-and-home with Louisville no way will he allow us to play home-and-home with West Virginia.

RE: UC fans...
I said this in another thread but I think MT wants to minimize the Huggs vs. UC storyline. As I remember the way it worked out this year is that Andy Katz reported before the BE schedule was announced that UC would be going to WVU this year with no return trip. I don't think the schedule was ever changed, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nancy called MT to request Huggs not come to UC this year before the schedule came out. In my mind it's going to be a circus whenever it happens, I would rather have gotten it out of the way this year.

Now that we're respectable again I expect Huggs return to the Shoe to be a Big Monday game next year unless MT keeps doctoring the schedule to have us visit WVU every year.

I doubt that Nancy Zimpher had anything to do with this, I think people give her to much credit. Tranghese set up the schedule so that UC was one of the teams that basically got no national games so I doubt he was worried about a Cincinnati/WVU circus, especially with Cincinnati in a rebuilding mode. Considering UC's bowl situation, UC's schedule (no home-and-home with Louisville), and, of course, UC's lack of television in basketball within the Big East schedule, I doubt that Nancy would have the influence to call up Mike Tranghese and ask for anything.

It’s not only Huggins, it’s WVU utter dislike for Cronin. This is a serious rivalry in the making. I don’t know why MT is so worried about the “circus”. Once Huggs visits the Shoe that first time, everything will die down.

By not playing the game in Cincinnati this year they have allowed the circus to hang around for another year. Get it over with already.

And I believe it was NZ who kept the game from being at UC this year, as ESPN would have been all about it. Next year at least UC should be better, so when he comes back to the Shoe UC stands a better shot at pulling the win on national TV.

The deciding factor in whether or not WVU-UC becomes an annual home and home affair could be how the nation's TV audience reacts tonight. We'll be up against the Virginia-Maryland game, and I think the game between the Mountaineers and Bearcats will be more interesting. It will be a lot more fun to watch too.

If WVU-UC pulls a nice audience, it could have a pretty large effect on MT (greedy b@st@rd). Ratings is what he's all about, when all is said and done. 07-coffee3

I agree. I thought UC should have requested that the game be played at home.

For what it's worth, the Cincinnati media expressly reported on the 11pm news last night that WVU is not playing in Cincinnati this season due to a call from the "UC administration" and agreement by MT in avoiding a bad environment. I don't remember for sure what station it was, but I think I was watching WCPO. It was stated as fact.

In my opinion, the fact that a call from a President can alter the league schedule is flat out revolting. Are we just going to have UC play @ WVU all-time? Give me a break.

Our evil President is a whacked out Hillary type of micro manager.
