Reggie Theus using NMSU as stepping stone?
Most of the NMSU fans like him, but the Reggie comments in the ESPN.com article by Andy Katz today sure makes him look like a short timer at NMSU. You can't blame him for going for the big bucks in the NBA or bigger D1 basketball school. If he does leave, it could be at the newly recruited NMSU players expense. They all came to Las Cruces mainly because of him. :mysterymachine:

That's the nature of the beast...I almost think it's better to have a guy who wants to do a great job and move on...I'll take a Crowton over a Bicknell any day.

Same here JL.

We know that Reggie brought a lot to the Aggie program in his short time there.

They have a good AD...so he'll be replaced with somebody good.

...if he goes.

All that may be true, but it is dissappointing to see a coach leave when the job isn't done. It would be nice to see a coach want to stay long enough to get a program is totally on it's feet so it could survive a mistaken hire by an AD. This applies to all programs without a top tier budget, not just NMSU.

I agree gaard.

The WAC has made major strides in the last two years. But until karl can sign TV deals with ESPNU and a "Regional" carrier like Fox, it's going to be an uphill battle.

The WAC plays very few basketball games on TV. It's time for Karl to change that.

NMSU and the WAC are far better off for having Reggie for 2years, than not at all. We all knew it would be a fairly short ride - though I think most Aggie fans thought we would get at least 3 years (and we still may).

It would be tough to lose him this time of year when many possible replacements have already taken new jobs, but I think our AD is up to the challenge, if it comes to that.
