RE: Slaton going pro
coming out early, to become a 2nd round pick... I think, the switch of the staff, major competition at RB is the most likely reason. If he stayed, i could see his carries going down as they try to spread it out, which would most likely drop him lower next year.

No mistake, a RB just has so many carries. All he has to do is ask Michael Bush about coming back.

WVU won't miss a beat offensively. Devine and Sanders will easily take up Slaton's load, and one of the new RBs coming in may pan out big time. I figure it will probably be Terrance Kerns.

RE: Slaton going pro
As great as he was in college, can anyone else see him spending more time on Injured Reserve than tearing through defenses in the NFL? I'm not convinced he will shine on Sundays. That's mainly due to his many injuries and his small stature. RB's don't last long to begin with, and while he likely will make some defensive players look foolish when healthy, I wonder how long of a productive career he'll have. I could be way off but just some thoughts.

I think he will be used at another position in the NFL - probably WR.

RE: Slaton going pro
I hope Slaton does well in the NFL. He was electrifying when he was at his best. He seemed to always disappear or have injury problems in big games (after the Sugar Bowl, of course). Hopefully that trend won't continue in the NFL and he'll have a successful career. All WVU fans owe him gratitude for what he did as a Mountaineer. I can't blame the buy for going to the NFL. That's alot of $$$$$$ - from being a poor college student to being set for life? Hells yes, I would do the same thing.

RE: Slaton going pro
Best of luck to Steve Slaton. I can understand his reasons for wanting to go pro right now as there is no way to accurately project what the new coaching staff will do to the West Virginia offense and how that would affect his draft status a year from now. The Mountaineers will probably be fine and hopefully Steve Slaton will be fine as well.
