The UCF game was going to be replaced by a MAC team and Bowling Green or Buffalo was the rumor. The UCF/Pitt game will happen in 2012.

Is UCF going to honor the 09 game?

Possibility 2013 but that is a guess. The OS article only mentioned future schedules to 2012.

If I were running things at UCF and I wanted to get into the BE I would have scheduled the open game in 2008 with Rutgers not BC. Rutgers would have given them a home game in return. As much as I would push for UCF as a BE addition to the BE or Split BE in the past as a BE fan I am starting to think that they might not be a good addition now. When this school backs out of deals with BE schools like they have in the past and refuses to schedule schools like Rutgers now it is apparent to me that they should not be considered for future BE inclusion. The only reason I can see them being this way with the improvements they have made with BE scheduling is that Trained Goose has already made a back door deal with them for 2010 to go to 17 BE teams and hold the conference there. In that case both factions would need get out of jail for free cards extended over an indefinate period of time to see if things work out.

We're actually hoping to annoy you guys to the point where you make us a member just because we won't be able to get out of the scheduled games!

BTW - I heard UCF is working on a "NCAABBS Posters Recieve Big East Voting Rights" contingency plan. I'm not sure what it is, but it includes the use of lolcats.

I think UCF is doing a pretty good job at that with a couple of BE schools. Actually I didn't know UCF had an opening for 2008 and that they were still trying to fill out their 2008 schedule. With the improvements the school has made, and the location for a USF travel partner and the potential for a natural Florida rivalry, I think UCF would be a natural fit for the BE whether it expanded with one team or split and added one team.

I get down to Orlando at least once a year on vacation or business and have seen the campus on the way in from the airport. UCF is doing a nice job down there with the improvements and I wish you the best of luck no matter which conference are in. Congratulations on your past football season.

For the record Rutgers wanted a 1 and done game with the initial talks. We are going to make the best schedule possible and not worry about mythical expansion that may never happen.

I think some people are jumping to conclusions with UCF. So far the only game that was canceled with Big East teams is WVU and we paid the buyout.

I think Rutgers was foolish to pass up on a home and home. If they start a long series with UCF they can play in Florida once a year and have the other Florida team play at Rutgers. I don't blame UCF for passing on the deal. It is also foolish for Rutgers to pass on this deal with the scheduling problems the BE conference has as a whole.

I was surprised too since Schiano has been so big on recruiting Florida.

C'est la vie - what's done is done. Maybe we'll meet up with Rutgers in the future - PapaJohn's is always a possiblity until we get the game scheduled.

It is hard to know what goes on behind the scenes. I can't blame Rutgers for holding out for BC with ESPN wanting to televise the game. It sounded like we almost signed a 1 and done with Rutgers for 2008 in the early talks.

Having 5 OOC games to schedule has got to be tough. I know at least 2 Big East teams are having issues filling their schedule. The Pac 10 now has 9 conference games and George O'Leary wants the C-USA to move to a 9 game conference schedule. That lowers the pool of teams to schedule games with the OOC.

There was a website that showed each team that still had open dates. That site would be great for you to see the possibilities remaining.

Mike Tranghese needs to get his head out of his @ss and stop forcing this conference to play 7 conference games and then struggled to fill 5 OOC games. We need at least 8 conference games (a 9th school) to fill up the extra OOC game and give us a fair balance of 4 home and 4 road conference games.

Good. Hopefully I can find out what team is playing the Sox that weekend and buy their jersey to repay the Boston a-holes for the annoyances I must deal with at Tampa Ray games.

WVU has jumped to any conclusions. We've figured out scheduling UCF is a waste of time. 03-banghead

Maybe your AD is just a fool for allowing a school to have a $50,000 buyout. Judging from his past, I have little doubt that RR will win his lawsuit.

RE: BC Possibly Playing Rutgers in 2008?
STK that wasn't needed... WV made an agreement with what I am sure was a reasonable buy out at the time.... these deals often are made years in advance.. things changed and UCF needed out.. they payed the required buyout and moved on.. WV did the best they could with scheduling after the fact. UCF was in a bind schedule wise and had to buy out someone.. the WV game was the least expensive option available... Pitt this year was worked out to mutual advantage.. game was delayed.. not canceled.. and they got Buffalo at home.. which may well be a better sell for them than UCF was in the first place.. UCF was making arrangements with EMU of the Mac.. where they would come to orlando this year...EMU changed their mind.. and UCF like a few others were left scrambling to fill a game..the BC deal worked out well for both sides... As for the RR thing the courts will do what they will do.. In my opinion unless he can show a lack of good faith on WV part.. he should have to pay.

I'm glad to hear your take on the RR lawsuit. As your previous posts have shown, when you have "little doubt" something will happen, invariably the opposite takes place.

You and TopKook should rent a hotel somewhere and go make babies instead of typing crap on the interwebs. It will save you both from being so wrong all the time, and will give you something useful to occupy your time with.

It would be nice if certain people would just stick to facts and not try to constantly drag every thread down into the deepest depths of dumbassiousness. Congratulations to UCF on the BC series and hopefully your AD will get the new Pitt dates finalized sometime soon as well. Maybe something can still be worked out sometime down the road with Rutgers as far as a Battle of the Knights is concerned.

Well judging from your AD's constant whining about not getting notice from UCF and not getting paid the buyout, both of which were wrong, I would tend to view your AD as a moron. In the end, he will end up costing WVU a lot of money from boosters not donating as much as was already documented and not getting the $4MM buyout from RR, of which even if he did get it, he would scream he never did.
