A guilty pleasure...
Not sure if anyone here was a closeted Memphis wrestling fan, but there's a pretty cool website out there that covers it from the 1960s thru the late 1980s. Kind a fun to look thru all the old clippings. The book looks good as well.

Wow! Cool site. Amazing to look at some of the attendence figures from the MSC during the early 80s. 8,000 plus was fairly common.

Is there anything in there about "Lord Humongous" the current Memphis Tigers Football strength and conditioning coach?

If you look under 1977, you see some cards that Stark was on, the problem about the "Lord Humongous" gimmick was there was approx 4 guys that played him thru the years.

Here's a pic of Mike (from a Monday night program, summer 1977).

I remember as a kid, me and my buddies going to Ellis Auditorium to see Billy Wicks and Sputnik Monroe have their classic battles. Also The Blue Infernos, Spider Galento and Jackie and Roughouse Fargo. Man what great memories.

Joe, I remember I thought I had died and gone to heaven the first time I went to Ellis to see Billy Wicks and Sputnik wrestle. I can clearly remember sitting in those seats that were behind the "stage" kind of tucked back in a cubby hole. The Baby Blimp was also on the card that night.

I know everyone remembers Jerry Calhoun as a referee, but how many remember Sam Platanium?...... or Skin Head Bates?

You may not know it, but Billy Wicks is alive and well. Here's a link to his website: Billy Wicks Home Page

There's a current email address for him on the "Contact" page. He personally answers all his email. He's a real nice guy.
