If UM can bring the Liberty Bowl and get it to pay $2.5M per year for the BE, I think UM should be seriously considered. BE needs a stable #2 bowl. Gator sucks and I really don't like the way they do business.

There are probably UofM boosters who would personally pay $1 Million to the Liberty Bowl payout if it meant inclusion in a BCS conference for the UofM.

The problem is they have to do it every year and that would be tough. I think Liberty Bowl needs to pull hard for UM before next round of bowl negotiation for the BE.

Agreed. It's time to bring Memphis and the Liberty Bowl into the Big East.

Don't hold your breath on adding Memphis.

In the meantime, the solution is to go to the Champs (Citrus) Bowl ($2.25m) and offer our #2 for that game. Sunny Orlando for our #2 is MUCH MUCH better than the isolated Sun Bowl. Champs just needs to get that game on Jan 1st. Maybe FoxSports if ESPN won't bite.

We need to wipe our feet of the Gator. They stupidly don't want us, and their POS town will not be missed by us.

Champs can't get that bowl on 1/1. Its played at the Citrus Bowl, same place as the Capital One Bowl, also played on 1/1. They'd have to move the bowl to another location. No offense to UCF, but moving the Champs Bowl to their stadium isn't an option.

PAC-10 #2 plays on 12/27, we can play on 12/27.

Heck, the University could donate $1 Million to the Liberty Bowl every year and would still be better off simply because of the BCS paycheck.

Definitely. I think there used to be some prestige from playing in a New Year's Day bowl but I don't think that's the case any more. Bowls have spread themselves out so they can all get TV coverage. The important things are being on ESPN or Network television, the payout, and playing quality BCS opponents. As long as those three things are met I don't care when our #2 team plays.
